Fasting and Chemo
Just read this on one of my favorite websites - https://examine.com/ Study: Fasting for cancer Fasting — so hot right now. But slow your roll for just a second … fasting isn’t a panacea, no matter how appealing its simplicity seems. In the case of fasting for cancer, the evidence is promising, but

Weight loss has stopped
I’m a little confused, I started LCHF nearly 3 weeks ago ( I’m using recipes from the fast 800 recipe book) and have nearly lost a stone. This week my weight has stayed the same and I have lost nothing. I’ve been measuring my ketones and they are fine. Help? Any ideas? I’m still classed as overweight

Nauseous and weak with swollen ankles
Hi everyone - I had a couple of bouts over the last month which is causing me a bit of concern. I have had a couple of 48 hour periods where I have been quite unwell with sickness, generally weak and my blood sugars and ketones out of kilter. I have also had swollen ankles. Any experiences anyone? Should

Results : Organic Acid Test (OAT) from Great Plains Laboratory.
I wanted to share the details of the results for my mother, based on Urine test . Hopefully, this will help a few on this forum. I am only indicating the High/Low items in the report. The remaining ( of the total of 77 items) were within the Ref. Range. See attached sample report from their website

In focus: diet - sugar and carbohydrates
Hello This month in our ‘Health in Focus’ posts, we’re looking at diet. Often, people diagnosed with cancer make changes to their diet because they want to support their health. In these posts, we’ll look at some of the types of food that we are asked about on the support service, whether to eliminate

I think the program is to advertise the expensive book/ meal plan/ website or whatever, and the Mail is helping them cash in, which is fine, it spreads good knowledge, but not all of us have a spare £100, so further thought may be profitable In my online researches I found it's only safe for two weeks

I have a question for you amazing people please . about liothyronine blood levels
I am on liothyronine only . I note like many of you have said that unlike other illnesses when we have our bloods checked the level of t3 is checked . So it's a test of the level of the drug we take . Unlike say diabetes where someone takes insulin but gets sugar levels checked and ketone levels but

Nitrofurantoin during pregnancy discharge
I am 14 weeks pregnant. I was getting a few bubbles in my urine. When I had my 12 week scan I was told bubbles are normal. However, I pushed the gp to do a urine dipstick test. They found ketones ++++, blood +, lycocotes +. My gp has now put me on Nitrofurantoin for 7 days. I'm on my 3rd day and as soon

Diabetes and CovID-19
Whilst diabetes does not increase your risk of catching Covid-19 it can make the infection. When diabetics get an infection their BG (blood glucose) can rise rapidly - a state known as hyperglycemia. As the BG rises ketoacidosis (ketones in the blood). This is more common insulin dependant diabetes.

Confused
Hey guys, so briefly T2 diabetic, went LCHF 3 years ago and have been in nutritional ketosis since all but once when I slipped out for 48 hrs. So my question to you all is this. I got up this morning and tested my urine 0.8 ketones, came down and tested my blood 10.5 😳 this has happened before normally

Diet modulates brain network stability.
A new study below [1]. I think that a lot of men on ADT are concerned about the impact on brain function. Is the decline permanent? One of the problems with ADT is the emergence or worsening of symptoms of the metabolic syndrome. Many men develop a pre-diabetic condition, if not type 2 diabetes itself

Has anyone tried Ketone Test Strips?
I bought some for fun more than anything and out of curiosity last week. I started doing partial-day fasts and did notice I was in a state of ketosis after 48 hours. It is interesting to see them measure when my body is burning fat but I think that's inevitable when cutting down calories anyway, with

How low should your blood sugar go during a fast?
I just cut short a 72 hour fast at 54 hours because my blood glucose went down to 51. My ketones were 3.2 and GKI 0.89. I did feel shaky but could complete activities. We went on a hilly hike that day. It was right before bed so I was a little nervous to go to sleep with it that low. Any thoughts
