Hair loss
Hi, is hair loss related to Hydroxyurea? I saw today that I have a receding hair line. Is there anything we can do about that? Vitamins maybe as iron is not allowed? Is anyone experiencing the same?

Sorry, tried to find a cute word for vagina but nether regions was too long & this symptom is very important to me and maybe can help someone else. Several years ago my labia lips started cracking and bleeding. Went to Dr. where she discovered the ET and recommended I start hormone therapy for the nether

Anti-inflammatory options
So, if one is not to take ibuprofen for anti-inflammation relief (sports injury), because of being on hydroxyurea for ET, any ideas what an alternative might be? Acetaminophen is fine as a pain reliever but it’s not an anti-inflam.

hydroxyurea & anger
Just a heads up for anyone starting hydroxy to look out for the anger. Don't know if this was just me but I had horrible anger for the first two weeks when I started taking the hydroxy. It culminated with me standing in my yard late at night and yelling at my neighbors over nothing ( thank goodness

fluoride for teeth when on hydroxyurea?
My dentist has recommended that I start using fluoride gel trays for my teeth to protect them while taking the hydroxyurea. Has anyone heard about this? I have Essential Thrombocythemia (high platelets) & as I understand it I will be taking the hydroxyurea for the rest of my life.

Cancer!
I’ve been taken off
hydroxycarbamide
as I am having treatment for bowel cancer. ( radiotherapy only! )The funny thing is that my platelets are now normal 🤷🏽♀️ and have been for a few weeks.

More decisions!
Does anyone know if
Hydroxycarbamide
prevents the clotting aspect of E T or does it only deal with lowering platelets and symptoms? Up to now, touch wood, I am symptom free, only referred because of high platelet counts. Be thankful for anyone's thoughts.

Hydroxy question
When my haemotolgist issued me with
hydroxycarbamide
tablets he gave me a box of a 100 which will last me 6 months as I only take 1 every other day, I see him every 2 weeks at the moment so was wondering if this was usual practice?

Definitive response on how to handle Hydroxycarbamide
[i]
Hydroxycarbamide
should be handled with care. People who are not taking the medicine should avoid touching it to avoid skin exposure to the cytotoxic agent. Special caution should be taken for pregnant staff.

Milburn - Information on Radioactive Phosphate P32
This has been controlled very successfully with
Hydroxycarbamide
through this period. Earlier this year suffered leg ulcers. After circulation checks this put down to the prolonged use of Hydrox. Hydrox treatment stopped in April and ulcers started to heal.

Good results
Asked him loads of questions and he gave me some good answers, the only one he could not say anything about was when Bexit happens what will happen to my
Hydroxycarbamide
as it is Medac and comes from Germany the other one is Squibb and that comes from Ireland, just said we will have to wait and see,

Hydroxycarbamide or not!
I have been prescribed Letrozole hormone therapy for 5 years for this and on reading side effects from
Hydroxycarbamide
AND Letrozole I am very undecided whether to continue with Hydroxy. Seeing Haematologist on Friday after fortnight on Hydroxy. Platelets are under 1,000 .

Hydroxycarbamide - why the need to wash hands?
I'm sure I'm not the only one to wonder about this, but why do we need to wear gloves or wash hands after handling hydroxy? It seem illogical that it's safe to swallow but not safe to touch, but I guess there must be a reason???? Any thoughts welcome😊 John

Does Interferon affect BMB results?
Dx ET JAK2+ with platelets rarely over 600 (just from blood tests). Was on hydroxyurea for 3 years, now on Roferon A (interferon) 3 x weekly for 10 months. I have just started noticing an improvement with symptoms but i would like to request a BMB and was wondering whether interferon can affect the results
