If you are sexually active during this course of treatment, you need to use a condom. This is to protect your partner in case there is any chemotherapy in semen

Proximal onycholysis
Just wondering if anyone taking hydroxyurea or ruxolitinib has had any nail problems. Two of my fingernails (thumb and ring finger) started with bruises under the cuticles and then white areas around the base of the nail which have actually started to peel off. I went to a dermatologist this morning

Are there any foods or supplements anyone has found to help build RBC?
My husband has had ET since 2013. On hydroxyurea and low dose aspirin. Recently 2nd bone marrow now shows secondary MF. No MPN near us. Looking for any natural therapies folks have found that may help give him energy.

Whoa
So I’m 52… have always been told that I was disgustingly healthy. Active mother of two. Then in 2016, I almost bled to death was hospitalized, blood transfusions and had an emergency hysterectomy. 2018 on annual blood test noticed platelets were in 800,000’s. Doctor looked at 2017 test and platelets

Stopping Hydroxycarbamide
Xray showed I didn't but did show a shadow which the Consultant said was probably inflammation caused by the toxicity of
Hydroxycarbamide
. He told me to stop it immediately. He would send a text msg to my Haemo. My platelets are 674.

Looking for advice - has anyone stopped taking hydroxyurea
Hi everyone, my husband is 28 and was diagnosed with ET CALR 2 years ago and since then he’s been on hydroxyurea and aspirin. The doctor said he will have to take hydroxyurea for the rest of his life and that if we decided to have anymore children to let the doctor know so we can plan and get him off

Has anyone discontinued Hydroxyurea? Why?
So ive been taking Hydroxy for over 2 years now and my quality of life improved during that time. This past six months however, its taking a dive. Muscle pain and malaise have returned. I keep hearing that Hydroxy should not be taken long term by my specialist says it can? Has anyone had to stop Hydroxy

ET and Hydroxycarbamide side effects
Hello. I have ET and have been taking hydroxy since October 2019. Initially I got a lot of mouth ulcers but they’ve gone now. However I’ve been having a lot of stomach problems - very frequent diarrhoea- and it’s getting me down. I’ve had stool analyses and all ok. I’ve had IBS for a number of

Anyone come down with a low temperature after covid shot?
I have ET JAK2 and am on alternate days of 500/1000mg Hydroxyurea. I was feeling weird the other day and decided to take my temperature as I had been running a low fever after getting the second Pfizer vaccination. I was shocked to find the temperature at 95.5, I took it again and it was 96. I tested

PV treatment has lowered my HCT to 29
I have P Vera with Jak2 burden of 88%. I am on 500 mg of Hydroxyurea daily. I had four phlebotomies in March and another in mid April to lower my Rbc, Hct. My RBC started near 8 and is now down to 3.9, my HCT started at 58% and is now down to 29%. My Dr took me off Hydroxyurea until my numbers improve

PEG-Interferon and bowel side-effects
As some of you may have seen from my posts on threads started by other members of the forum, I have a long-standing leg ulcer and there was a worry that my chemotherapy treatment (
Hydroxycarbamide
/Hydroxyurea) may have contributed to the origin of this ulcer and inhibited its healing.

Opinions about Hydroxyurea, vaccination and pregnancy with ET.
Hi everyone. My name is Kristina and I'm 32 years old diagnosed with ET. I discovered that my platelets were high in 2007, but was diagnosed with ET few years later. First I was put on only Aspirin, then when my platelets were around million I was given Interferon Alfa which I was taking irregularly

Unable to use conditioner
Since I've been on
hydroxycarbamide
, I can't use normal conditioner on my hair as no matter how long I rinse and rub my hair for it doesn't wash off, and my hair looks really greasy like it hasn't been washed for 2 weeks. Does anyone else have this problem?

New ET member
The lumbar puncture and subsequent biopsy confirmed the ET diagnosis and I was given the
hydroxycarbamide
, stating at 500mg per day. about 2 weeks ago the dose was increased and I started getting terrible headaches. Thankfully there have been no further symptoms to date.

Headaches every day
I was started on
hydroxycarbamide
500mg about a month ago...no problems on that dose. About 2 weeks ago the specialist increased the dose to 1000mg Mon-Thurs and 500mg Fri-Sun. That's when the headaches started and I'm having one each day.
