Better late than never
All my bloods are well controlled, with
Hydroxycarbamide
had a little blip where the white blood count went very low but all is OK now, and am still doing the Government and ONS bloods and swabs and have good amounts of antibodies and thats after four jabs, long may it last.

Interferons as the First Choice of Cytoreduction in ET and PV
»Interferons are a group of cytokines with immunomodulatory properties and were the first immune therapies used in the treatment of cancers, including hematologic malignancies. Use of standard interferon alfa-2b for MPN treatment has been limited by its difficulty in administration and adverse effect

Sunshine and hydro
Ive been on
hydroxycarbamide
for about 10 months now. Had a few problems to start with but now I seem to tolerate it well. I had read that you should be careful with the sunshine…so I sat in the garden swing under the canopy, thinking I was protected from the sun.

What pain killers can I take when on HU?
As I’m on
Hydroxycarbamide
and low dose aspirin, I know I can’t take ibuprofen and I’m waiting to hear from my Hematology nurse as to whether I can take codeine, which I really don’t like. But this pain is too bad to not take something other than paracetamol! Are there any other ideas please?

newly diagnosed MS with history of PV
Devastated find out I can not take Besremi as it can make MS worse. I have wondered why my wbcs out of nowhere started to rise. I suspect I have had asymptomatic MS for a while. So I maybe going back to just watching and daily ASA because I am young. But just wanted to know if I have to do hydroxyurea

confused about options
I’m currently on 4 capsules of hydrea a week and my platelets are now at 583 which is ok with both my local hematologist and my MPN specialist at Stanford. I have no symptoms, am 77 and was diagnosed in January. They immediately wanted me to go on daily hydroxyurea but I refused. Things look good on

Pegasus interferon covered by Insurance
I have been on Hydroxyurea for 20 months and am really feeling fatigued and ache all over. I am considering asking my MPN Specialist to put me on Pegasus. My concern is the cost. I live in Alabama and have Humana prescription insurance and am on Medicare. Does anyone know if it is covered by insurance

Hydroxyurea and sleep issues ?
Hi, Has anyone had any sleep issues while taking hydroxyurea? I've been taking one (500) a day for about 9 months. I'm experiencing interrupted sleep at night. Sleep a couple hours, wake up, sleep an hour wake up etc. Wondering if the Hydrea could be causing this? I take the pill at 10:30am.

Dry skin
I have been noticing patches of dry skin. I have been on hydroxyurea for about a month. I am using lotion but I’m wondering if there’s some kind of oil,/lotion that I should be using on my scalp to prevent dryness. Has anyone else had this problem?

Hydroxycarbamide and Butec (buprenorphine) pain patch
I started on
hydroxycarbamide
exactly a year ago and during that year the patch has become less and less effective. In the past three or four months I get weekly withdrawal symptoms which cause depression, anxiety, feeling sick and many other things, not to mention more pain.
