Changing from Prednisolone to possibly Hydrocortisone
Good morning Following a Synacthen test my Rheumatologist has said my Adrenals gave a very good response, currently taking 5.5 mg Pred . He wrote in his letter he would like me off Pred ASAP and will discuss possibly changing to Hydrocortisone when I see him next week . He has always been doubtful

T3 or Hydrocortisone
I’ve historically had problems raising my levo dose, as soon as I get to 50, I start to feel dreadful. I’ve been experimenting with hydrocortisone at 2.5 and 5mg doses alongside the levo. I stopped the HC for a week to see if it made a difference and re-started again yesterday at 5mg. OH BOY! There’s

Introducing myself - symptoms worsening, seeking a diagnosis (sorry for the long post!!)
Hi there, I strongly suspect I have a mast cell condition - which has currently flared up at its worst. Background: I was always very healthy, no allergies at all, up until my early twenties when in 2017 I developed a problem with facial swelling and rash. It took about six months to poinpoint the

HC cream effect wears off pretty quickly 🤨
This is a carry on from last weeks... https://healthunlocked.com/thyroiduk/posts/149335413/is-this-the-hc-cream-effect-kicking-in So I stopped the daily 1g of hydrocortisone cream which I had used for a week on Wednesday morning and within 2 days have slumped back to pre cream lethargic state! This

tapering off steroids
Hello I'm currently tapering off 5mg Prednisolone, initiated a few years ago when I had Covid which was triggering my severe asthma. I don't need it anymore for that reason except I was diagnosed with adrenal insufficiency a few years ago. Recently seen an endocrinologist and had a short synacthen

Down, but not out!
I'm building up to 10k....again....had a rubbish winter( when I'd planned to build up to a half marathon .) I did my first last June and eased off through that long hot summer thinking that I could use the Autumn to do lots of stamina training . Then I would be ready for an hm in early spring. What

Update #3 Self-Treating
Following on from my previous update, (https://healthunlocked.com/thyroiduk/posts/149204484/2-update-adrenal-testing) I have another update. Unfortunately, endo has turned out to be pretty useless. After asking for my bloods a few times I got a fairly shirty response stating he was very busy and would

hydrocortisone or prednisone?
I am wondering which steroid is better for GCA? I was switched over to hydrocortisone by an endocrinologist to “nudge my adrenal glands into waking up” and also the tests to see if adrenal glands are functioning is better done with being on hydrocortisone. I had test last week and adrenals glands are

Does anyone know the ‘HC’ quantity in adrenal cortex? (More specifically Adrenavive III)
I’m trying to figure out how much adrenavive is comparable, if at all, to hydrocortisone dosage. I can’t seem to find any information anywhere with any comparisons and wondered if anyone had any more detailed information. Thanks in advance 😊

Adrenals are working!
I had a ACTH Stimulation Test this morning and just got the results back from my Endo. She said even better than she expected. So now I can start tapering off of hydrocortisone at 1/2 tablet weekly. Currently I am on two 5mg tablets in morning and Two 5mg tablets in evening. It seems a bit fast but

very high cholesterol
I had a visit with my cardiologist (my hero as she was the one to suspect GCA two years ago while dealing with uncontrollable blood pressure and head pain and eye issues) so she knows my whole GCA story. Anyways my cholesterol has gotten very out of control even with taking Crestor, my cholesterol levels

chronic skin itching
I have chronic skin itching. Especially in the night. The more I scratch, the more is itching. I used many home remedies and anything I have heard it is helping. Nut none is helping. I will see a dermatologist next week, thanks God it's not 2 months from now. I started to use today hydrocortisone

Getting circumcised after 7 months of battling with constant Balanitis
I got Balanitis from seemingly nowhere 7 months ago. As soon as I realized something felt off down there I took a trip to the Dr, believing that it would be a relatively easy fix. I was prescribed Clotrimazole, I was so relieved on the way home, thankful for modern medicine. If only I’d known how premature

A tale of probable adrenal insufficiency at 1.75mg / 1.5mg
Having caught a cold recently, resulting in nasty cough, I’m under the weather (still ongoing, but slightly better). On Tuesday evening I began shaking uncontrollably and then remembered the sick day rules. Taking an extra 5mg restored balance and I’m glad I did. The next day I reverted to 1.5mg.

#1: The Start
Following the example of Clarebear I've decided to document my thyroid-adrenal journey on here in hopes it'll keep me accountable, and also may serve some after me. After a long, complicated history of no diagnosis, followed by lithium treatment, then prolonged time spent on T4 with no improvement,
