I have now been diagnosed with a lung fungal infection, I have been prescribed 4 Intraconozole tablets per day + 15 mg of Hydrocortisone tablets, my feet + ankles are very badly swollen so Consultant prescribed 40 mg of Furosemide water tablets 1 tablet twice per day I have been 6 weeks on those water tablets but they don't seem to be working, my face is very puffed up too, but Consultant said ' Not the tablets'., my liver + kidneys are fine, as I have regular blood tests,!! Has anyone else experienced this? I would be much obliged if any of you kind friends could please advise me what to do as I do not see the Consultant for another few months yet & I am very much at a loss as to what to do! Thank you all so much for all your kind help & advice, it is as always Greatly Appreciated.. Primrose123,xx

Hi, I don't find furosemide very effective. Is it worth having a chat with your GP given that you don't see your consultant for a while yet? There are other diuretics that might be more effective for you.

I hope the treatment for your lung fungus clears it. I have been told that I have a lung fungus but it isn't being treated. My specialist nurse said that they don't always do so.

Many thanks CDPO16 for your kind reply, I have taken your sound advice & contacted my GP surgery & left a message with the receptionist to ask the doctor if I could have a different water tablets as the Furosemide has not been effective at all, I am just waiting for a reply, or perhaps as the receptionist said the GP may leave a prescription for me to collect tomorrow hopefully, regarding the Intraconozole fungal tablets they have certainly worked very well & the Consultant has said that I have to remain on them for another few months & hopefully that will clear the fungal infection. . I hope all goes well for you too CDPO16, & I wish you good health & much happiness for the future... Primrose 123.. x

you don’t mention what type of lung fungus you have, it’s normally Aspergillosis so there are two very good websites for lots of info. Aspergillosis.org and aspergillosistrust.org

Hi Primrose, there are two very good Facebook groups, the NHS team for Aspergillosis is based at Wythenshaw Hospital in Manchester and they Manage the Aspergillosis.org website, the FB group is National Aspergillosis Centre Support and they also have twice weekly zoom calls and a monthly zoom call with topical presentations. The other group is a patient lead FB group Aspergillosis Trust Support, both groups are very friendly and you can ask any questions that you like and someone will reply
