My Dr appt this evening.
He wasn't unhappy with my rejig. I'd raised Pred to 7mg from 5mg and left off the lunchtime Hydrocortisone (20mg). He's okay'd me to stop the Hydrocortisone completely and referred me back to Rheumatologist to investigate potential Rheumatoid Arthritis in both hands. She'd mentioned my hands in

Rash on penis
Ok so about 6 months ago I had sex with my wife when I noticed what looked like scratches on the tip of my penis. Didn't think anymore about it but I then noticed pain when pulling the foreskin back and it was tight like an elastic band being put around it. Then I noticed a red patch had formed on the

Increase Pred. before hip surgery?
I'm having my second hip replacement this coming Saturday and wondering whether to increase Pred dose prior to it. I'm on 5mg (stayed there since May when I had the other hip done). I didn't increase it last time just took 5mg the morning of op and discussed hydrocortisone support with the anaesthetist

Why do we use IFN-α vs IFN-β? Might IFN-β be preferred?
I've discussed IFN types before. Some interesting info here that INF-β might be better to reduce inflammation/progression. ---- A recent post noted that Interferon is used for MS disease. This is the other IFN type 1, IFN-β (vs our IFN-α). I checked into why the difference. It turns out there

T4-T3 conversion issues
I was wondering if anyone who has known issues of an inability to convert sufficient T3 in order to feel well, could let me know what has worked well for you. I should say that I am 74 but am relatively active at times but need lots of rests throughout the day as I have ME/CFS diagnosed 21 years ago

Pain is now unrelenting. About to rejig meds.
I've been taking 5mg Pred for 4+ weeks (plus the 30mg Hydrocortisone in divided dose). You'll recall my Dr said it was too low too quickly. I decided to carry on as I'd got here (unscathed so far) and didn't want to go back. 4 weeks on my CRP has gone up to 6.1 after months at or around 4.3. I am

Hypothyroidism and fluctuating low cortisol. What to look for privately?
Can anyone direct me where to seek help for the low cortisol fluctuations I am experiencing? It seems I’m on my own trying to sort out low cortisol that isn’t severe enough on blood test to be worth the NHS exploring further. Due to increasing fatigue when my “usual” thyroid & cofactors lab results

DHEA (& Cortisol)
Hello, I received these results today. I would appreciate it so much if someone could give me a steer on the DHEA aspect. I understand cortisol very well and clearly I have some form of adrenal insufficiency. I have 2 questions - 1. Do you think I need hydrocortisone from these results or can I

Covid with adrenal insufficiency and atrial fibrillation.
Hello all I'd just like to let you all know that the NHS really does work ...at least it has for me. Short resume....PMR 2011, Prednisolone practically continuously in varying amounts ever since until this year when moved onto hydrocortisone 25mg spread over the day after 8.30am cortisol tests demonstrated

Could someone help advise what these skin growths/bumps would be? This might be quite long but any help would be great! :)
Hi all, I really hope somebody can advise me! Sorry if this is long. I've decided to finally post online and ask about this problem because I am getting nowhere with it with the GPs or the hospital (more on those later) So anyway, in August 2021, I noticed a red raised bump, looked similar to a spot

Flare I think.
I've been aware of an aching, unlike any aching I have suffered with for several years. It's been around for about 2 weeks and is gradually intensifying towards late afternoon. Across my shoulders, my neck, my wrists. Not enough yet to stop me getting on with things but uncomfortable. Not addressed

Adrenals had it.........
After about 18 years or so with PMR it looks as though i am finally away from it....... My only success was tapering at a quarter Mg per month on a system similar to DSNS... Now i am left with inoperative Adrenal glands (so i am told )......from the long term pred use....... After a pile of tests

Testing my thyroid after stopping levothyroxine
Hi I was put on levothyroxine back in March when my test results were considered borderline. I had to have surgery in April to remove a cyst on my pituitary gland which thankfully seems to have been successful (though I have what is considered to be mild diabetes insipidus which preceded the surgery

Update after visit to Dr re Hydrocortisone.
I'd been imagining that my Dr would be pleased with my taper to 5mg Pred but he was pretty shocked and said it was too quick. We discussed swollen ankles, disturbed sleep, hunger, irritability and anger. He says none of them are side effects of Hydro. My low level anxiety has dissipated so I didn't

Angry, Labile and slightly anxious on Hydrocortisone.
I am feeling well but my buttons are being pushed more easily it feels. I am feeling frustrated when things go wrong. Tearful too! I guess this is normal and have put the mild anxiety (unusual for me) down to adrenalin. I hope I am right. 5mg of Prednisolone which I am pleased about, 30 mg of Hydrocortisone
