Learned LDL Cholesterol is Elevated to 151 (USA) or 1.7 in Europe & Prescribed Statin Drug Crestor 5mg!
First of all, I have not picked up my overall blood work papers from the doctor yet (will tomorrow), but was surprised she called me in a statin prescription before I saw the paperwork. I've been on depression meds for 2 decades and just am changing from Pristiq to Trintelix, so if I decide to take

Diabetes
I realise this is the weight-loss forum, but diabetes and obesity are inextricably linked, and we seem to have had quite a few posts on the subject lately. I was unable to respond to lucigret's tag on a closed thread, so herewith a few thoughts on the subject. 1) Back when my mum was a ward sister,

Can Plant Sterols/ Stanols trigger epilepsy? (The daily consume cholesterol lowering yogurt drinks..)
Hi I’m 57 years old, non smoker, quite fit and strong – I visit the gym several times a week for past 30 years, healthy lifestyle, good diet, moderate alcohol consumption. 3 ½ years ago my doctor checked cholesterol test and said I was getting a bit high at 6.5 and I might “have to go on Statins”.

Switch from one brand of T4 to another
I have read several times that you should not just switch from one brand of T4 to another. However, I have compared the package insert leaflets of Euthyrox which I'm currently taking and Levaxin (L-thyroxine) by Takeda that I would like to switch to since the reformulated Euthyrox contains mannitol (

Weight loss slow- I don’t think I’m doing it right
Hi all, I started at 202lbs back on 18th March and cut out pasta, rice, cakes, biscuits, beer, bread and have not had any of the above since. I have been doing what I think is a lchf diet being around 35g carbs a day. From being the worst at drinking water I’m now clearing 2.5ls a day. I only eat lunch

Lipid Clinic scaremongering/borderline intimidation?
Hi all, i am new here although have been looking at all the posts on the forum and do have my own opinions on the diet/heart - cholesterol/CVC . I had my general NHS check up at 47 years old, and my GP referred me to the lipid clinic, as he thought I had elevated levels of cholesterol (his words). After

LCHF diet .
Home made pork scratching with salad. Only thing is I eat most of them before my wife made the salad. Chirpy on the outside and soft in the middle with perfect seasoning...best in the world.

Cholesterol
I had a massive stroke in 2009 and then two heart attacks in 2013 and 2014. I was put onto statins. Three years ago the statin I was taking was changed by my doctor. He prescribed Ezetrol. Unfortunately my medical aid would not pay for this medicine and so over and above my monthly medical aid contribution

Association of thyroid function with white coat hypertension and sustained hypertension
Yet another paper that associates thyroid issues with the heart. It isn't that long ago that 'white coat hypertension' was coined! And here we are with a possible contributory factor. [i] J Clin Hypertens (Greenwich). 2019 Apr 11. doi: 10.1111/jch.13536. [Epub ahead of print]
