Ace inhibitors versus arbs
I am new to the forum. I have taken blood pressure medication for a number of years: 25mg Atenolol; 2.5mg Ramipril and as these didn't control BP, bendroflumathiazide was added. With the medication BP was around 145/75. My GP stopped bendroflumothiazide last year. Ramipril was increased, but BP

I was prescribed Ramipril 2.5mg for high blood pressure. My blood pressure slowly increased over a few days. Will an arb do the same?

How cholesterol varies among us
There has been quite a lot of discussion about cholesterol recently. Sometimes it looks as if anyone who is hypothyroid will have high cholesterol (however measured). Also, that this high cholesterol will remain high in many of us. Thought I’d point out that it is perfectly possible to have low cholesterol

Query re endoscopy to view duct in pancreas.
Hello everybody I have a slightly prominent duct in my pancreas and elevated enzymes in my blood tests. I am having (my first!) endoscopy in a 2 weeks. I am wondering whether the camera ever picks any other issues up apart from what it's looking for. Such as other issues with the bowel or stomach? I

UK RLS sufferers this is for you.
This week I received an Email from Professor David Nutt also from our Manerva ;] Buprenorphine in the form of TEMGESIC 200mcg is available from your GP also I suspect Norspan patches which is buprenorphine dosing starting at 5mg. Buprenorphine is a very superior drug it hangs onto very few receptors

High blood pressure and ectopics
Is there any association between ectopics (PACs/PVCs) and high blood pressure? I noticed my blood pressure spiking on a few occasions when I was getting ectopics. Or could it be because of anxiety associated with the ectopics? I dont have a history of high blood pressure and its normal most of the time

Wrist pain with Losartan?
I’ve been on bystolic for close to ten years. Recently my doctor added 50 mg of Losartan and my left wrist has horrible pain since starting. It feels like the pain you get from being too cold. Anyone else have this? I am supposed to return to work in a week and I desperately want and need to

AA query follow up
Many thanks for the replies to my recent post. All helpful. I’ve spoken to the rheumy and been prescribed risedronate. Rugger has been taking this with no bad effects so it looks good. Btw, on the phone consultation I mentioned I had a slight headache. It’s really nothing much and a slight jaw ache

Cholesterol and thyroid test results
Following on from my post 4 months ago - my GP agreed to raise my thyroxine dose to 100mcg and see what happened to my cholesterol. I feel a little bit better for the raised levothyroxine but still get very tired in the afternoon and evening (basically only have any energy in the morning) and still
