Insulin has to be administered in consultation with a Diabetologist. Caution: Type 1 diabetic patients are prone to Diabetic ketoacidosis. Adopt low carbohydrate diet/ diabetic diet.

Hi zaeem35 ,

Has your daughter's doctor suggested a low carb. high protein diet? What insulin has she been prescribed? How many times a day does she inject? Does she have snacks during the day? What is the blood sugar before and after each meal/snack? When was the last A1c done? When was her last appointment in office or over Video Chat with her doctor? Does she have an insulin pump? Are you counting carbs. for her meals/snacks?

I'm type 1 and I use two types of insulin ( fast and long acting). The fast acting insulin is used 2-3 times a day (depending on how many carbs. I have at each meal and blood sugar) and the long acting is done before bedtime during my snack. I count carbs., use a Continuous Glucose Monitoring system that works 24/7 with giving blood sugars off of a sensor, and I also eat a low carb. high protein and gluten free diet for tighter blood sugar control and a gluten/wheat sensitivity issue. The low carb. high protein part of the diet helps control the blood sugars during the day and evening hours.

I hope this helps. If you have anymore questions, please feel free to ask anytime. :-)

Thank you for saying that, ramana42 . I appreciate that. :-)

I have an Endo. on video chat appointment scheduled for Monday morning next week and will get my lab results at that time. Will let everyone know more when I can about them. :-)
