Professor Graham Hughes' BLOG February 2014 via London Lupus Centre
When these choices don’t succeed, the next choice is a ‘big leap’ – to
heparin
or warfarin.
Heparin
(low molecular weight (LMW)
heparin
– not the ‘old’
heparin
formula), is of course limited as it can only be given by injection.

Recommending a specialist
I'm currently 22 weeks pregnancy on aspirin and
heparin
. He was fantastic, the most knowledgeable consultant I've seen to date.

Is breathlessness a symptom of APS?
I'm on aspirin and
heparin
injections for about a week now, I still feel breathless but I feel as though it's improved a little bit. Just wondering if anyone else had this?

I react badly to Warfarin but would be happy to use

temporally.

pregnant and just diagnosed with aps
told me that they normally do 3 blood tests all 12 weeks apart and it's not considered positive unless 2 out of 3 are positive but that given the fact that I am already 9 weeks pregnant and given my previous history they are taking it as a definite positive and treating me with 75mg aspirin and 0.45ml

Already has a plan B if plan A fails including a
heparin
trial. Couldnt be more thrilled. And I am sero neg APL, sero neg Lupus. He also assured me that my Lupus is not 'mild' as described by original diagnosis. I have bilateral AVN, which in his words cannot be deemed mild :)

Good news for once!
I booked a hearing test on tuesday because iv`e been concerned about my hearing as a result of missing what people are saying on tv now & again. I had the test today, & the results were exellent according to the woman who did the test. She said my hearing was at the top range for someone of my age, which

Can't win!!
They were very impressed with the hospital where I had the surgery as they routinely give a
heparin
injection before major surgery. I've already had one 12 years a go as well as a subarrachnoid haemorrhage!

Could I have Hughes Syndrome?
Maybe I should just believe the doc, but my reaction to aspirin and
heparin
, really have me wondering. Sorry for the length of this, and if you have read it many thanks.

Differences between LMWHeparin and Warfarin, how they work, side effects and suitability.
If you have then I believe the common treatment is warfarin however some take
Heparin
. Is this down to patient choice initially and then reviewed or maybe 'see how it goes' or is it specifically one or the other for each patient.

After 4 years of good health - with warfarin and having stopped smoking, I am devastated to have suffered a mild TIA this week. Why?
Does anything help alongside meds - I am now back on
heparin
until my INR levels reach 2.5. So frustrating but lucky to get fab care at RIE. Any advice gratefully received ?

Professor Graham Hughes' - February 2014 - Monthly Blog
Mrs O.L. was started on aspirin with some improvement, and later with
heparin
, and finally with warfarin. All her symptoms, including chest pain and migraine have disappeared. Also improved are the tummy pains and balance problems. Mrs O.L’s verdict: “I have my life back”.

Pregnancy, APS, medications- how can you manage them all?
Last Sept I fell pregnant (planned) and as per my local specialists advice, was put on Tinzaparin (
Heparin
) injections and low dose Aspirin. Unfortunately I suffered a miscarriage in January (18weeks). All signs are now pointing to the APS and I am awaiting a referral to London (St Thomas).

Do GP's deal with your prescription and treatment once you have a diagnosis?
In a hypothetical way, say if I'm diagnosed, I presume I can see Dr Khamashta at regular intervals for check ups at my own cost but in regards to getting/accessing warfarin/
heparin
etc how does it work?

What medication options are there for aggressive APS ?
After eight years of silence from medics post stroke, and MRI for an apparent lupus attack showed extent of my stroke and number of TIAs was urgently placed on a lifetime of warfarin with a
heparin
bridge while my INR was increased, last November.

Is Aspirin Enough?
I took
Heparin
and Aspirin throughout my 2 subsequent pregnancies but now I feel like I've just been abandoned. I don't see a Consultant and no-one seems interested in how I'm doing. I would think things have changed over the last 14 years!

The one minute cure. the secret to healing virtually all diseases by Madison Cavanaugh. I have refused any prescribed medication over many
years, after lots of prescriptions for non steroid anti inflamitory tablets and 3 cortisone injections every 12 weeks ruined my health. Until i was guided to the book, The One Minute cure, this is the Must book to read. Personally in the last few weeks, following the information in this book i have regained

Oh well!
The last time I went to Papworth Thoracic Outpatients clinic the doctor said I should have a hearing test as the antibiotic Azytheromycin, which I take everyday can affect your hearing. I told him I was deaf in my left ear anyway. This morning I went to the West Suffolk Hospital for my hearing test

Professor Hughes December 2013 blog
The patient was started on anticoagulants – first
heparin
and then warfarin. Total disappearance of the headaches and chorea, improvement in the balance problems and memory loss, and, to our surprise, marked improvement in sleep pattern. And the hip pain? Very interesting.
