I’m due a valve replacement at the end of the month and possibly root replacement, however the surgeon is yet to make a decision on

Decision to make
Hi, I’ve been told I need to have a valve replacement and can’t make my mind up between a mechanical valve and Ross procedure. I’m 46 so if I have the Ross procedure I’ll need to get another replacement in 20 years or so. The mechanical valve looks like it will make my diet complicated , I need to reduce

Heart failure
Hi everyone. I went into heart failure directly after having the Pfizer jab. Turned out I had undiagnosed scarlet fever as a child. Had a mitral valve replacement as a result. Is anyone else struggling to come to terms with what has happened to them?

Mechanical valve
Thanks for your replies! You are correct, I think I got my terminology wrong, sorry. I will have a mechanical valve not a biological valve, thus the need for warfarin. I was also hoping to use the self testing kit for warfarin, as we spend much time in Africa, which could be rather tricky. Good to

Can azathioprine cause chest pains?
Hi, I have been on azathioprine tablets mostly 75mg to 100mg for my Lupus for approximately 20 years. Have been experiencing chest pains on my left side especially after excretion. I had various tests and scans but they are all negative. I had Covid last September and had to stop taking the azathioprine

Synthetic mytral valve
Hello, Soon I will have mytral valve replacement. I'm 56 female and lead a very active life. My concern is not so much getting back to fitness after surgery but more how much warfarin really affects day to day life. Also I was wondering, are there still no other alternatives to taking warfarin when

second valve replacement
I had an aortic root and valve replaced in 2017 (mechanical valve) after combination of poor valve function and swelling aorta. This problem was found during a transasophogeal echo in advance of an ablation to tackle bouts of disabling AF that were only ever resolved by electrocardioversion. In the last

Ablation appointment take two …..
Deep breath and all fingers crossed, I’ve been given provisional appointment for cryoablation end of this month. They need to use an internal echocardiogram on me (ICE) due to previous heart surgery and clot risk. There is only one such thing in the locality which is why they had to cancel todays appointment
