Pace and ablate for atrial tachycardia?
Just wondering..... The evidence here and elsewhere suggests that pace and ablate comprises a good option for many of those folks in later life who have very symptomatic persistent/permanent AF and for whom cardioversion no longer works. We also know that one or more ablations, whilst on the face of

I was diagnosed with afib in December last year in A/E since then had ecg ,and ecocardiogram, waiting to see a cardiologist. Got results from G.P saying leaky valves. But today got a surprise phone call from cardiology department saying a cardiologist had referred me for cardioversion in April .Does anyone

10k training run
Hi folks š¤ just thought I'd update you on how my training is going. Today I'm up to 6k run I could pinch myself as never thought I'd get to do anything like that again!! Feeling good though wee bit knee trouble now and then. But nothing a pain killer and deep heat can sort. I'm joining a park run group

Do you know the difference between a sudden cardiac arrest and a heart attack?

I was thinking of the best way to celebrate my eight month anniversary since my WMM (Wolf Mini Maze) in Tokyo by Dr Ohtsuka at the NewHeart Watanabe Hospital. I am still in NSR (normal sinus rhythm) and my divorce from AFib is finalised. As our friend Jim knows, I went a little mad (as you do) when

Cold water!
I went swimming for the first time yesterday since my diagnosis of PAF 18 months ago. I'm on holiday in France at the moment. It was an outdoor pool and it's hot here so the water felt really cold. I went in waist deep and then ducked under. I swam for a few metres then realised I was in AF. I guess

Stressing
I've been a bit quiet for a while but that doesn't mean to say I've stopped running. I've been ringing the changes with my runs and really enjoying them. Our park run was cancelled last week as part of the course was flooded but I got on the treadmill instead. I've also been going to my alternative

Ablation next Wednesday
Hi, Apologies, Iām dreadful at remembering terminology .. Iāve had racing and irregular heart beat intermittently for a decade of more. I have a resting heart rate of 50 and low blood pressure. My afib tends to be aggressive and I usually end up in hospital. ( rate of 240 not unusual) Last time had

Tachycardia
Hi. After six months clear of af it suddenly came back last month. It seems to bother me every day since. Iām on Bisoprolol 10 and flecainide 50.x 2. Also became tachycardic. Spoke to gp who agreed I could increase flecainide to 2 x 100. Made me very breathless so reduced it again. Iām mostly tachycardic

Left atrial enlargement
Hello!I was wondering if anyone has experience of this. What can be done about it, is it reversible with optimal levo? For context, I have Hashi's, I'm 51 and currently experiencing another bout of terrible anxiety ( last time was 5 years ago). Tests have discovered the enlarged LA. I don't have any

A question please
I had had bouts of Afib ranging on average of 12-18 hours a time for many years. I then had one of 55 hours 5 years ago. Then it was back to the usual pattern. Suddenly Iām into another long one? I have always self converted and never been to hospital, except twice in 18 years and that was with chest

Are people with recent mechanical valve and aorta replacement, considered vulnerable during heat waves?
Currently in Europe where there is an ongoing heatwave. Surgery just under 3 months ago. I can't see mechanical valve on the list for vulnerable groups during heatwaves. Just checking to see if I am correct in assuming that I should be as careful and sensible as every other person who has not had major

CHAD VASc
Last year on a visit to my EP he informed me that at the age of 64 and with a CHAD VASc score of 1 that anti coagulants were not necessary. However as I turn 65 then my score would go to 0 which then does require Anti-c . I am taking Flecainide, bisoprolol along with Magnesium and I am in good health
