Howdy all. Hope you're all tickety boo. Just a quicky. I joined the BHF forum recently to see if I could get help, support and info from there about the mitral valve stuff but Ive been shocked at seeing some of the venomous responses some peeps have had to, what I consider, legitimate questions. Chloresterol drug, clinical trial.
I have been contacted by my GP asking if I would like to participate in a trial of a drug to lower chloresterol. My history is that I had high chloresterol 25 years ago which resulted in blocked arteries and necessitated a heart bypass surgery. I also had a mild heart attack 6 years ago but no reason

Afib or palpitations?
Once in a while I get very irregular heartbeats after I go to bed at night. My Dr. said they are palpitations and not afib and did not occur during the 24 hour holter monitor, but I noticed a pattern as to when they occur: always after a very salty and probably MSG restaurant meal and a few drinks with

a quick hello
Oh, FYI Those of you who know me know about the miracle of my pacemaker that did not exist until recently, which would have meant all I had to look forward to was
heart
failure even more than now. The only other stuff is
transplant
something they probably wouldnât care of me at my age.

Questions about post transplant surgery JP drain
Did anyone have a JP drain after kidney transplant surgery? I have had a drain for 6 weeks and itâs still collecting 100cc of fluid. My doctors want it to get to 25cc which seems like itâll be awhile longer. If you had a drain how long did you have it? Just trying to get an idea of the longest time.

Heart muscle not working properly
I had an angiogram Monday and the doctor yold me my heart muscle is not working properly. To my understanding this is heart failure. Am I correct? I have also been told to 'get fitter' and he will see me in 3 months. The problem is I had two knee replacements (one which went badly wrong the second

Echocardiogram result
I've just had the result of my echocardiogram. It doesn't sound too bad: the valves are ok, apart from some mitral valve regurgitation which was described as "insignificant". The aorta is ok. The ejection fraction is down from last time (2 years ago) but is described as low-normal at 50-55%. The fly

Nintedanib offers new hope as transplant recommendation approaches
Hi all, It's been a fair while since I last updated - longer than I'd have liked - but in a way its a good thing as I actually have a fair bit to update on as a result... The additional heart tests involving tracers, a CT scan and an hour long MRI which really tested my lung capacity with one or two

poisoned by statins
I have now come to the conclusion that instead of getting the correct treatment for my heart problem I have been given a higher dosage of statins that is causing me more harm. I believe that my diagnosis should be treated with a stent or a bypass. I have three siblings , two have had heart attacks and

In the Rush to Return to âNormal,â What Happens to the Vulnerable? By Sarah Wildman in NYT 04/10/22
