Contrast dye allergy vs keyhole surgery.
Has anyone here managed to have successful keyhole
heart
surgery
, despite being unable to have contrast dye for CT scan? Were their surgical team able to obtain clear imagery despite this issue? If so, are you willing to share how they did please?

Hello all, I’m awaiting
heart
surgery
to repair a leaky mitral valve (mitral valve regurgitation) at the Freeman Hospital in Newcastle upon Tyne, UK. I’d be interested and grateful to hear from anyone who has had this type of
heart
surgery
at the Freeman Hospital.

Living alone after open heart surgery
When discharged from hospital after open
heart
surgery
are you able to look after yourself such as reaching up and down, carrying out laundry basket, lifting pots and pans, cooking, getting in and out of bath. Or is it expected you will have someone who can assist you.

Post surgery
I am 3 weeks after open
heart
surgery
to repair my mitral valve. I am still wearing compression socks but for the last 3 days one of my ankles has been swallen. Is this normal weeks after surgery? Getting a GP appointment is almost impossible so wanted to know if anyone else experienced this.

Breathless, palpitations, upset stomach, thirst and unable to sleep
hi everyone I hope someone can help I had open
heart
surgery
10 months ago to repair my mitral valve. I subsequently had AF and was told my ejection fraction was 40. Since then my EJ has improved a bit (still not in normal ranges) and the AF has gone.

Which option for surgery
My dad has been waiting for open
heart
surgery
for a valve replacement for 2 years. He is now faced with a second option, TAVI, rather than open heart. Does anyone have any experience or helpful advice? We are researching for him so that he can make an informed decision.

Positivity, trust and determination are the key to a good recovery after major open heart surgery.
I am an 86 year old female but my aorta with a 6cms aneurism and the valve were replaced. I kept positive and, touch wood, five months on I am independent and well.

newly diagnosed valve replacement
When I had echo 7 weeks ago the chap that did it rushed me into a doctor and they both told me I needed open
heart
surgery
and that I would probably be kept in that night as it was urgent.

Open Heart Surgery Aortic aneurysm
Hi everyone, I am 41 and due to have my descending aorta fixed due to an aneurysm. They also found my aorta has created vascular ring around my trachea and oesophagus which needs to be sorted out. They plan to do a thorocotomy. Has anyone had experience of this? I can only find those who have had theirs

But has anyone suffered with depression and PTSD after series
heart
surgery
, because I have and wanted to make sure I wasn’t alone, although I do at times feel depressed, I was 17 when I had surgery. And just now wanted advice and comfort from someone who has gone through something similar.

Recovery
Has anyone else had previous open
heart
surgery
and had burning pain and discomfort in left side of ribs, back and sharp pains in chest? I know this is all part of the healing process but the burning pain and discomfort has started in the past week, which is my third/forth week after surgery.
