My husband is suffering from stiffness in the mornings and in the middle of the night. Is this what others have happen to them?
Every night and morning for the past few months my husband wakes up very stiff and it is sooo hard for him to move. Walking is almost impossible. We talked to the doctor, his neurologist, about it and he told him to take two Sinemet when he wakes in the middle of the night to go to the restroom and then

Change of medication.
I mentioned sometime ago I would let you all know after my husband was tried on Sinemet. Well it made no difference to his symptoms and hence it has now been discontinued. However, the next medication trial, was for him to have hyoscine patches to reduce his drooling. He has had the patches now for two

Neck & midline "tremors" developed after DBS for Parkinson's disease.
I had bilateral DBS for Parkinson's disease last year. For the first 3 months, I had absolutely no dystonia or dyskinesia. Then I started to develop a tremor in the back of neck and jaw associated with some dystonia of the back of my neck, middle back, and even abdominal muscles. Before DBS, I would

I take 1 mg. Azilect one time a day. I also take sinemet three times a day. My tremors have increased again, also mental "fuzziness".
My neuro suggested I increase the Azilect to 1.5 mgs daily and also increase the sinemet. I am thinking try one increase at a time. Has anyone who takes Azilect successfully increased it to 1.5 mg? When I initially started taking it 4 years ago, it helped to clear my mind and reduced tremors dramatically

Carbidopa/Levadopa (Sinemet) and augmentation. One thing that can cause this med not to work as well as it should for some people.
These days Sinemet is considered an "old fashioned" treatment for chronic sever RLS. Dr. Buchfuhrer says that he rarely uses it now, because of the fact that it can stop working so fast and should only be used for intermittent RLS, not chronic , daily RLS. Quote from the RLS Foundation medical bulletin

Is there anyone with DBS taking Madopar or Sinemet and then added Azilect?
This question is for a friend who is not 'online'. He has DBS and on Madopar several times a day. His DBS specialist prescribed him Azilect, several months ago, which he took for about one week, but stopped because he perceived no benefit. His specialist told him that he did not give it enough time

Do high-oxalate foods such as beets, spinach, lentils, beans, etc. worsen your PD symptoms? Has anyone tried a low-oxalate diet?
I've had a few days where my PD symptoms were particularly annoying and the Sinemet was not as effective. On these occasions I ate a large amount of spinach or lentils (very high oxalate foods) the night before. I was wondering if there was a link. Not only do high-oxalate foods cause kidney stones but

WANTED: PERHAPS THE MOST IMPORTANT DECISION YOU'LL EVER MAKE ABOUT PARKINSONS.
A WOMAN 30 - 60 YEARS OLD. MUST HAVE A WONDERFUL HEART, (AS IN LOVE) ,A KIND DISPOSITION AND MOST IMPORTANTLY...HAVE PARKINSONS. AS I GROW OLDER IT BECOMES INCREASINGLY MORE EVIDENT TO OTHERS THAT I HAVE PD, AND I GET THEIR "AWWW,'' LOOK. I'M SICK OF PEOPLE'S SYMPATHY. THEY CAN SHOVE IT. EVENTUALLY

Does anyone have any imput/comment on this? As everyone says, diagnosis doesn't change anything, but it helps to structure the future.
My husband was diagnosed with Agent Orange induced Parkinson's in 2009. In December 2013, the neuro said that she felt there might be some conmorbitant PSP (involuntary eyes closing/unable to open, legs involuntarily straightening out, stiff as a board). The sinemet, ropinerole, and entacapone still

Foot and thumb cramp etc.
Hi I met a neurologist about a year ago who put me on Sinemet then wanted to increase the strength. He mentioned dopa reponsive dystonia. I didn't like the idea of the increase and asked for another opinion. (Still waiting and will see the new neurogist in a month). So not taking the sinemet at the moment

Stalevo side effects
Hi, I've been put on Stalevo as Sinemet not working all the time but have found it upset my stomach and gave me legs drained of energy when I exercise! Do others suffer similar side effects?

Has anyone been able to retire on PD disability although you are not quite disabled yet?
I really don't want to wait until I am disabled before I can retire. I'm 55 and been with the Federal Gov't for 22 years. I've been diagnosed with PD for 5 years. My current symptoms include depression, tremor and lack of co-ordination in my left hand, which are resolved with Sinemet. But the Sinemet
