These days Sinemet is considered an "old fashioned" treatment for chronic sever RLS. Dr. Buchfuhrer says that he rarely uses it now, because of the fact that it can stop working so fast and should only be used for intermittent RLS, not chronic , daily RLS. Quote from the RLS Foundation medical bulletin (USA)...."Therapeutic effect may be reduced dramatically if taken with high protein food. Can cause insomnia, also sleepiness, and gastrointestinal problems." So anyone taking this med should watch what they are eating if their symptoms are getting markedly worse. Just a new little factoid I learned the other day when in a meeting with several medical personnel.

Carbidopa/Levadopa (Sinemet) and augmentation. One thing that can cause this med not to work as well as it should for some people.

I've been taking sinemet for about a month and it has been working well. However I notice that my left eyelid has a droop to it now. Could it be from the sinemet? Will it go away when I stop taking it? I've been prescribed 2 mg neupro patch which I just applied. I don't have much faith in it though. Does anybody have information about sinemet or neupro?
