Earlier in the year my
haemoglobin
level was dropping quite quickly. For the past few months I have been having four weekly blood tests. The good news is that it has now stabilised around 80 g/L. The results have been 78, 79, 80, 81 and 82 though not in that order.

Haemoglobin level in polycythemia vera
Does anyone know what a normal
haemoglobin
level is? My hb count on my last hospital letter was 130. Just wondered what that meant. I am waiting for bone marrow biopsy results. X

Hi I’m new to the forum - ET JAK 2 Negative - waiting on the results for a second BMB to exclude Pre - Fibrotic MF
A month ago my new Haematologist, the previous one has now retired, suggested, for a few reasons, I retake a BMB, 1, my
haemoglobin
levels have been on the low side consistently at around 121- 117 for as long as I have been under her care, which is almost one year. 2, the previous BMB, back in 2008

The importance of iron
The kidneys produce the hormone erythropoietin which stimulates the production of red blood cells and in turn maintains a healthy level of
haemoglobin
(Hb). Most of the body's iron is found in red blood cells so if they are low, it is likely your iron levels might also be low.
