Does anyone know what a normal haemoglobin level is? My hb count on my last hospital letter was 130. Just wondered what that meant. I am waiting for bone marrow biopsy results. X

Hi every lab uses different criteria for testing & their normal range differs. My daughters ranges and results in worcester are completely different to mine in essex. Its very odd!

Hi there, according to my records normal range is 120-160. Hope this helps.

Hi Sarahjane,

I have had PV for 4 years and now see my haemotologist every 3 months. He always gives me a copy of all the blood test results where it says my actual result and also gives the normal range for a particular item like Haemoglobin.. At my last appointment in May, my hb was 132 and it states that the normal range is 115-165.

If in any doubt, it's always best to talk to your GP or specialist.

Kind regards,

Sandra
