Fibrosis / ILD caused by Lupus
My wife and I visited the respiratory consultant on Wednesday. We were told that the CT scan of her lungs taken in 2018 showed a significant problem. The images of the lungs were grey when they should be black. She has been breathless for a number of years now but getting significantly worse. At last

Letter from Hep Consultant PBC
Hi received my letter from the consultant - Primary Biliary Cirrosis! instead of Primary Biliary Cholangitis. I was horrified to find the name changed in 2016 and not sure I have much faith in his approach. At no point does it mention Cholangitis, I have a Fib4 score of 5.34 no idea what that means.

Six month scanxiety.
Just going through my six month scanxiety. Will have my six month ultrasound and AFP test on July 20. All prayers appreciated. For those who don’t know, I suffer from cirrhosis cause by my right sided heart failure. Yep, the heart affects many of our organs. My cirrhosis is well compensated and will

How to tell if it's ascites
I was diagnosed with 3 c carsinosarcoma in Aug 2017, didn't have surgery, had 18 weekly chemo taxol/carbol. Chemo finished may 2018. Since then I have remained stable with 3 monthly scans and have been well. Lately I have not felt quite as well and am able to eat only very small amounts before feeling

Alcoholic Cirrhosis after quitting the Alcohol?
Is it possible for the ALD to become full blown Cirrhosis , months after quitting alcohol? I have read here that people had fatty liver, quit alcohol and it progressed to cirrhosis in months or years.

Worrying
Hi I have been having multiple tests since having elevated liver enzymes GGT was >400 and ALT>200. I found out today that I also have smooth muscle antibodies does this mean it’s AIH? I’m waiting for a fibro scan appointment and also more blood results. I did phone the helpline and the lady was so helpful

Do you continue taking B1 Thiamin HCL, High Dose Therapy (HDT)?
I’m wondering if HDT benefits after having had DBS surgery. What are you thoughts?

Cirrhosis plus diabetes
My husband has recent been diagnosed with irreparable cirrhosis, he is also a type 2 diabetic. He’s been told to eat a high calorie diet! He’s waiting to see a dietitian but he’s not got a telephone consultation till the end of August!! Can anyone please recommend things to eat that won’t send his diabetes

Decompensated or Compensated? That is the question.
If you had ascites that is now medically controlled with diuretics and varices that have never bled. I was diagnosed as decompensated when I had ascites. But now the nurse puts on my blood test forms “compensated cirrhosis screen”. I know if I stop diuretics ascites will return so which is it?

Newbie
Hi guys. I.m a newbie and I was diagnosed with PBC in March 2020 .and have had liver scans and blood tests but have not seen a consultant. They said they were pleased with my tests. But that's all!! Should I be having treatment?? Or just the regular scans? I.m confused and a little scared to be honest

Removed from transplant list
My partner has been removed from the transplant list as he started drinking again (he did have a warning first). Will they ever allow him back on it or is that game over? He drains 12 litres ascites fluid every week, he's been told to get his affairs in order, he has stopped drinking again (we had some

Drinking coffee may cut risk of chronic liver disease, study suggests
Over the years we have had some posts from members who were advised to, or somehow picked up the idea of, giving up coffee. At the same time, various levels of liver disorder are quite commonly posted - often slightly elevated liver enzymes, but sometimes more serious. Including fatty liver disease

Is the Kpa from a shearwave elastography the same as the Kpa from a fibroscan?
Hi all, I had a shear wave elastography of the liver. Kpa 7.8. My ultrasound said increased echogenicity and mildly in creased exotexture. Does anyone know if this is suggestive of cirrhosis? Has it gone too far. Worried sick.

Must Watch - ITV – “Tonight” 7:30 – 8:00pm “Are you Drinking too much?”
Towards the end of 2020, research revealed 8.4 million people were drinking at a high-risk level - almost double the number who were prior to the Covid pandemic. But how much is too much, and how can we reduce the harm alcohol causes? ITV journalist and recovering alcoholic Toby Winson explores what

Drinking and liver
I am reading a lot of posts here and people honestly admit their drinking. But what is drinking. Before January 2021 I would have a glass of red wine every day for a few years. Apparently, all my doctors even now say red wine in moderation is fine. Well, no. I was told fatty liver, had cholecystectomy

Do I or Don't I
Hello, I am fairly new to this forum, I have been diagnosed with cirrhosis due to Alcohol and the results of the MRI scan show a mass of nodules. What I am worried about is that I did not tell any of the professionals that my father died of cirrhosis which turned into liver cancer. My Nanny and Grandad
