Does anyone know if there is a genetic predisposition to Pneumonia?
I only ask as I have bronchiectasis. I have no idea if my infections are pneumonia or bronchitis (I'm told it's only those two options?) but I unfortunately lost my brother to Pneumonia at the very young age of 33 (him) and it nearly took my dad two years ago. I guess I'm just wondering with Pneumonia

Vaccination advice
My lupus diagnosis is fairly recent and I haven't had the pneumococcal or flu vaccines. I spoke to the lupus nurse yesterday and she advised me to have them if my GP surgery is happy to do them. So, I rang my GP and unfortunately got to speak to an incredibly unpleasant doctor, who I avoid whenever possible

Coronavirus and IPF
I am in the latter stages of IPF and have carers visit me several times each day. Clearly, I am at risk of contracting Coronavirus. I wouldn’t survive it because of my reduced lung capacity. Typically, would my lungs just fill with fluid – pneumonia – and would the process take several hours or several

My COC Implementation Perhaps Positive
In my 17 years of prostate cancer, my third recurrence started in May 2019 with a PSA of 0.3. In prior PSA testing, I never experienced a PSA decrease unless hormones (Lupron) or radiation was involved... until now. In 2019 I started with high dose vitamin D, intermittent fasting, lost 15 pounds, eliminated

Colds and dread
Hello. So I have colds for 5 days now - a type that isnt runny, just there in my head. Something happened this afternoon while I was waiting in line at the store. I just felt cold all of the sudden. Started from my head to toe. I got scared because I felt like my head is in tight knots or something.

Cold or something else.
Hi everyone I need to ask an opinion. I know none of us are medically qualified but...I have a cold, I have headache and a sometimes runny nose. I don't have a sore throat or a dry cough but I do have some upper chest irritation. I hope this is just a cold. My friend and colleague who ran a training

Canceled ablation due to “feeling” congested
I sneezed a few times over the weekend and “thought” I felt my head becoming congested, and of course had lots of anxiety about being at more risk if I succumbed to a cold/flu following the procedure, let alone the covid19. So I called the cardiologist and we decided best to side with caution and wait

An explanation of how we got here, why Covid19 is NOT the same as seasonal flu and why the measures matter
We have had several replies on the forum from people who think this is much ado about nothing. We know there are people who don't see the importance of hand washing, of social distancing and avoiding crowded places. And even more so for the members of this and other HU communities who are distressed

PD and cold/flu remedies
I just read that these are incompatible with certain types of PD medication such as Azilect. I wasn’t aware of this. Does anybody know which meds other than the one mentioned and WHY? Thanks

Invalid Spirometry?
I contracted flu in late January and was really poorly.A couple of doctor’s appointments showed low blood oxygen levels and a spirometery test was booked as a result of being an ex smoker, The results showed moderate damage, however the nurse performing the test ordered a chest X-ray as I was still breathless
