Even though disappointing for those with thyroid issues, I had hoped, and actually was under the impression, that at least endos were good diabetes doctors. It seems that I have to rethink that as well. I have a colleague with Type 1 Diabetes who had some horror stories to tell. And he is the second

Neurological processing disorder from bacterial meningitis
morning, I was just wondering if anyone has had any experience with neurological processing disorders please? I went to the hospital recently for an auditory processing disorder but it’s now thought that this is wider neurological processing disorder that I need to be referred to a brain trauma specialist

BLOOD RESULTS - HELP PLEASE
GP didn't do a great job of translating. My learned friends can probably do much better: ESR 5.8 CRP 5.0 LDL 3.89 HDL 1.89 TC 6.3 (should the LDL and HDL not add up) Triglycerides 1.48 Glucose 5 My BP is controlled with meds. I do not want to go on a statin. She wants me on one. What do you all think

Questions about rise in HbA1c
Hi, I started on prednisolone 20mgs on 26th January this year for 4 weeks, tapering 1mg every two weeks, currently on 16mgs (10 mgs am, 6mgs pm). HbA1c last August was 5.5% , result last week was 6% (42.0 mol/mol). My diet has been much the same throughout although I’ve been trying to reduce carbs further

Does reducing blood sugar help?
I am wondering what happens if cll patients just eat foods that cut out sugar spikes? Does that help? I see lots of studies showing that fasting is generally helpful fighting cancer, as is cutting out sugar. So what about with CLL? I know some pple are into fasting here and others not- I was thinking

The things pred does to blood sugar & weight – oh joy…
Apologies in advance to those who may have read a variation on this as a reply to a thread started by Shires123. When I was diagnosed with PMR nearly 4 years ago, I was also about 20kg overweight and I went on a 20gm carbs "keto" diet (based on information on the dietdoctor website recommended by others

why am I so tired
I was diagnosed with GCA in November. I have been reducing Prednisone every 2 weeks. I started on 40mg and I am now on 12.5mg. I have steroid induced diabetis and my readings have been very erratic. They seem to be settling down a bit. I am taking 160mg and 80mg of Gliclazide, I have also been prescribed

Anniversary of varices bleed
Up until 23rd December 2022 I thought I was quite well and healthy and rarely needed to visit our GP. Out of the blue on the 23rd December 2022, I started to vomit up approx. 3 - 4 pints of blood, as you can imagine my wife and I were in shock from the whole episode. Following an emergency admission

Small bowel intestinal overgrowth
I have been diagnosed by my gastroenterologist with sibo after a breath test. The treatment prescribed is xifaxan. I’m waiting for approval by insurance. I’m also in treatment for CLL with Zanubrutinib which I began in May last year. I have had stomach issues, sometimes really severe, since beginning
