Weight loss after surgery
Hello everyone, I'm new here so please bear with me... I was lucky enough to get my double heart bypass done in between covid surges - it was third time lucky mind you, and the second time was because a last minute emergency patient needed my ICU bed, I was all ready, gowned up etc. That was a disappointment

Pain relief
My husband was discharged from hospital on Sunday after having bypass surgery and aortic valve replacement. The only pain killer he appears to be sent home with is paracetamol!! What have other people been prescribed after open heart surgery please?

MRI scan post bypass
Hi All, Sorry if this is a stupid question but has anyone had any issues having an MRI scan with the metal wire in their sternum post heart-bypass? Thanks

Postponed surgery
Posted this morning that I will be having bypass surgery on 4th November. Just been contacted from hospital that one of my tests shows I have a 50-70% blockage in the artery on my neck! This has to be sorted out before I can have my bypass. Really scared and worried now. Has anyone else had this happen

Bypass surgery
Have been given a date for my double bypass. 4th November....just a few days away really . Have had all relevant pre op tests and all seems well. Understandably extremely nervous and would so appreciate any advice on what to expect and what I may need to take into hospital. Also already worried about

I need advice pls.
I'm overweight and have a history with alcohol, had a
gastric
bypass
10 years ago. I guess I can assume I don't have cirrhosis from these tests, either way i'm having a elastography next week?

Using an Inhaler with cardio issues
As a few will know I have had Cardio problems since 1997, fixed with quad CABG and later stents fitted. Had several issues with breathlessness and diagnosed with HF. All of these quite well managed these days. Earlier this year just before everything kicked off I had had more breathing issues and had

Ongoing problems after CABG - impossible to get anyone to listen
Just wondering if anyone has any advice...fiancé had 3x CABG in January. He had AFib and heart flutter after op (several occasions of it and was on Amiodrone for 3 months.) An ecg he had in March showed no AFib and he was taken off the amiodrone. For the last few weeks/months he’s had “funny heart moments

Well one year today since my triple bypass surgery. What can I say ? A few ups and downs but mainly up and feeling good. The NHS is indeed our national treasure. With all that’s going on with the current pandemic my local Healthcentre has been incredible. Had a phone consultation followed be a full check

I was on a higher dose since having
gastric
bypass
causing absorption issues in 2006 but I always did well until my emotions and reactions were unstable enough to warrant taking me off.

Eight months into good heart recovery and then , surprise surprise, hello Parkinsons! How does one affect the other?
Have any of you experienced both? I doubt it's good news, I imagine a battle between my recovery - very good so far - and PD. With 2 new valves an Atriclip and a CABG, I was told to expect 18months for recovery (thats confirmed in scientific papers) so I'm wondering who's the hare and who - or what

Gastric Band/bypass for losing weight?
One medical centre advised a
gastric
bypass
/band and said I can lose 50%-70% of my current weight with one. I know this isn't about thyroid but it links to the thyroid as I am pretty sure that is why I am overweight now (19 stone) 6'1 tall.

My Heart Story.
Hi all newbie here and my first post. By profession, I am a 60-year-old overweight taxi driver and I came across this site while in hospital waiting for CABGX4. In 2014, I was out of puff after push starting a vehicle for a neighbour and came over all sweaty and clammy. Wife phoned for ambulance and

310 Lb., 66 Year Old Man 11 Weeks After Cabbage.
I just signed up. I hope I can learn from all of you and contribute to the forum. I’ve had a couple of periods of time when I was in athletic tip-top physical shape at 210 lbs., but most of my life I’ve been a pig. I’m not a small fat man... I’m a stout large boned fat man... Based on many bone measurements

Waking up from deep sedatives in ICU.
Waking up from sedation...what should I expect? My Dad went in for bypass surgery which went fine and on the day he was to come home he had a reaction to Heparin which was HIT type II rare response. They found clots in his heart and he had a heart attack shortly after in the ICU. He went in for emergency

Routine check ups after CABG x5
I’m just asking out of curiosity - my husband had a quintuple bypass in Canada 2 years ago. We came back to the U.K. last August and gave the doctor all his records. Do people have annual checks with a cardiologist here or if you are ok is that it?
