Doctor visit tomorrow.
I meet with an allergy and asthma specialist tomorrow. Any advice? So far my gp has given me oral steroids 40mg x5 days and it just moved my peak flow up from my most bottom number (not everyday) 250 to a high of 350. I feel slightly better, but still gasp and cough at night, cough just walking my

Back on prednisone and discovered I have a virus.
I have a job interview on Monday, so I spurred my usually avoidant arse down to the doctors surgery. After a few days of one good blow and then two terrible ones, my peak flow was amber for Wednesday and I kept waking up having dreamt I couldn't breathe only to find... I really did have problems, okay

Hi there, I wonder if you can help. I haven't been diagnosed with COPD, I have asthma, but I feel as if I have COPD. My GP says my spirometry from 4 years ago is fine and not to worry. However I don't feel right at all, I find going to work hard work and usually feel tired just after lunch and need a

General lung health
Hi, I wanted to ask a question about peak flow and spirometry. Just for some background, I'm a 40 year old nonsmoker. Last year my Dad sadly died having suffered with IPF. He was still relatively young at 65. His own mother died aged 51 having had lung cancer. These things made me wonder about my own

Does anyone else not use their actual best Peak Flow?
I lost my peak flow from years ago (which I only know was well above predicted because the nurse erroneously told me I didn't have asthma). So, at my new surgery I stopped avoiding reviews and my PEF was 420, though I'd taken near maximum ventolin. Anyway, a few weeks later I scored 440 but none of my

Good while it lasted
After a really good test last week for my review, the follow up was a bit of a disappointment. Nurse still very pleased with last week’s results but as my chest was wheezing and rattling did a quick peak flow check, which was low again. Ah well, blood pressure normal and lost 12 pounds in the year. Nurse

Peak flow is normal but still not well
Today, when my pf results came in green numbers, it tells I'm fine. But actually, I'm coughing badly, short of breath and damn tired and sick. But my parents will still send me to school and I will have trouble attending even 1 class. What to do? Please advise.

First part of new regime done!
Had my appointment with health care assistant. Allocated half an hour, only in 10 minutes. Peak flow, blood pressure, weight check and a few ‘Are you breathless when’ questions. A print out of results showed a 5% improvement on last year’s test. Yay!! I have a form to fill in about how COPD affects my

Hello everyone.
Hello everyone, I am new to this forum and pretty new to the world of inhalers, at least on a regular basis. I am in my early 50's and, although I have had a blue inhaler which I have used every now and then for about 26 years I have not had a major problem until I had a nasty fluey cold/chest infection

Found my One and Only Proper Spirometry Flow chart today, Makes one think unless I am misreading it
So by proper I mean sitting in a cubicle with nose clip and face mask:) My other ones have been desk-top units one in Russia and one at my UK ex GP (ex because I was removed from the surgery list for not going to visit for over 6 months) Readings did not really give me cause for worry and I wonder why

Fed up
Day 18 of chest infection. Antibiotics finished 2 days ago, day 9 of steroids. Chest still tight and breathing not perfect. Plus side Ive had my voice back for 2 days 😊 Peak flow 250 am and pm. Using brown and blue inhaler. When is this going to clear up?

Feeling scared Idiopathic Dilated Cardiomyopathy
Hi Everyone Its been some time since I last posted on here. Everything has been ticking along ok (pardon the pun). General health as usual has been a bit up and down. I was diagnosed with depression in August due to bullying and harassment at work. Consequently I left the job, I don’t miss the 75mile
