An Unexpected Journey
Yesterday I visited the medical oncologist and her advice was to go on 2 hormone-blocking drugs,
Firmagon
and Lupron. It seems I have a definite lymph node in my right pelvic area that is positive for pc and a couple suspicious spots in the left rear pelvic area.

An Update of ADT2 Treatment for My Metastatic Prostate Cancer
I never had any testosterone blood test before
Firmagon
and Lupron shots as part of cyberknife treatment for an extra capsular recurrence in 2016. In January 2018, when my PSA was undetectable I had T value of 44. Then when my PSA started rising I recovered T.

Quick Onset of Side Effects of Casodex and Lupron
In 2016, I had three months of
Firmagon
followed by six months of Lupron as part of cyberknife treatment of my prostate cancer recurrence. Within four or five days of first
Firmagon
shot I started having hot flushes. My PSA dropped from 1.8 to 0.2 after the second
Firmagon
shot.

Zytiga or Casodex
The urologist suggested Lupron or
Firmagon
. I opted for Lupron. I also am on Casodex. My MO wants to put me on Zytiga with Prednisone. I like the Casodex and Lupron combo because I am tolerating them well. I am not so sure how I will tolerate Zytiga.

My first year with prostate cancer
So, I started my ADT (
Firmagon
) and had "an average response". In the first month, my PSA went from ~100 to 3.14. After 6 months it was at ~0.45. The scans showed the tumour had shrunk some, but the bone lesion was unchanged. Not bad news, but it was not convincing for him.

Lu177 Phase 3 to FDA approval - how long usually
My best friend has just started treatment on
Firmagon
and may possibly have Zytiga added if his liver enzymes do not show increased level. Just thinking ahead if , by chance,
Firmagon
doesn't work for him anymore, would Lu177 be FDA approved or not .

Sick of the meds
Prostatectomy 2012, 21 bags of chemo, lots of hormones,
Firmagon
and Lupron, Zytiga, now Xtandi. Bone metastasis, lymph node involvement, the whole enchilada. Have had several cryoablasion procedures which helped. Xtandi and Lupron are working for me now 7 years in.

So Worried
He had radiation, and a
firmagon
(spelling?) shot. We saw a neurologist who suggested we do surgery even though he had already had radiation. He got the back surgery to try to remove the pressure from his spinal cord, and now is walking with a walker.

Hopeful
In July I was given two injections of
Firmagon
and the pain in my lower abdomen disappeared within hours!!! One month later Lupron for three months and I started with Zytiga in September. PSA was 0.9 two weeks ago and I feel good, except for being fatigued.

Introduction and progress
PSA became detectable at 5 years when I have 2 months of
Firmagon
followed by several weeks of prostate bed irradiation after which my PSA was undetectable again for another 4-5 years. Erectile capability became less as time progressed and I had a penile implant placed which functions to this day.

Castration resistant after 20 months on ADT
I immediately started ADT with Eligard and
Firmagon
injections and a short stint on Casodex pills. PSA immediately dropped, but never stabilized, and bounced around from a low of .05 to 2.95. Now after 20 months on ADT, I have become castrate resistant with a PSA doubling time of 6 weeks.
