Anyone know of any cirrhosis of the Liver specialist that are taking on patients?
I decided to go onto a drug trial that was trialling a drug for
Fatty
Liver
disease. To do this I had to go through a number of tests which included a liver biopsy.

Mannitol and sense of Taste/Smell
Mannitol was once quite a popular great white hope against PD, but only ever really seemed to benefit perhaps 1 in 5 at best. It did really seem to benefit me though. Given how cheap it is it is always worth a punt (I know big pharma study found no benefit, but we will agree to differ on how believable

engaging with alcohol support for transplant assessment
hiya, partner diagnosed with decompensated cirrhosis 22.12.21 - has remained alcohol free since that date with comparative ease . He is being very well looked after by our local liver unit and whilst we are still hoping he may have some improvement (he is actually pretty well despite a UKMELD of 52)

Any answers to whats going on? Fibroscan v the rest
What I cant understand is why something did not show up on the CT, ultrasound, or the MRI, ie surely they must have showed up some sort of
fatty
liver
image. What I am trying to say is that could the Fibrascan be wrong, although it would be wrong 4 x now.

Agitation awaiting liver transplant
My husband and I are constantly arguing over the smallest things. He becomes very agitated and verbally abusive. He has compensated cirrhosis and HCC. He is currently awaiting a liver transplant. Our marriage is in tatters.

Liver Transplant Pre / Post op
Just found out I need a liver transplant in two years. Non drinker, liver disease undiagnosed for 20 years but it looks like its finally packing up. Does anyone live in the Cardiff / South Wales area who may have been through this process so I can get a handle on what I've got coming my way. Only found

Immuno suppressant choice and no response to Pred treatment
Morning everyone, I posted on here a few weeks ago as my 19 year old son Adam Green had been diagnosed with AIH. Yesterday we had a follow up consultation and he was told he has Cirrhosis stage A/B. Decompensated Transplant may be the option going forwards. His body isnt responding to the 30mg Pred over

Negative then positive then Negative AMA???
I am so confused. I'm not sure if I should even be here. 4 months ago I tested negative for AMA. 2 weeks ago I came back positive. I asked to redo the test and tonight my test results came back negative. Obviously haven't spoke to my Hepatologist yet. I was diagnosed solely based on a positive AMA test

Heptlar for PBC
Hi, Has anyone heard or taken Heptlar manufactured by Abbot for PBC or AIH? Heptral 400mg Tablet is a medicine used for the treatment of liver disease associated with reduced bile formation (intrahepatic cholestasis). It protects the liver cells from toxins and helps the liver to perform its normal functions

Nutrient absorption- coffee, grains and alcohol
I have from time to time tried various food combinations - but a few months back tried cutting out coffee grains and alcohol at the same time and felt much better after a week and dropped some weight. I have over the past week picked this up again and with similar immediate results. It has left me

still decompensated after 5 months any hope?
my partner diagnosed with decompensated cirrhosis on 22.12.21. Stopped drinking that day, 5 months later eating healthy high protein low salt, doing everything he has been asked. At the start sodium was dangerously low so he couldn't take water tablets - now his sodium is back within normal levels whilst

Baffled
I have pulled back from level 4 cirrhosis with ascites and jaundice as well as two bad bleeds and was doing well. I then developed a pregnant stomach again ( I'm 60) drumlike, tight, uncomfortable so I assumed ascites and resumed spironolactone. No effect. Had a US scan on Monday- no fluid found! Has

General introduction and seeking recommendation
At the hospital they diagnosed me with
fatty
liver
, and gave me the “it’s not a big deal, everyone has this” statement (now I know from the fattyliverfoundation website and a few other locations is an incorrect statement).

Has anyone had a flare up similar to what I’m experiencing?
The Ultrasound / CT Scan saw the
fatty
liver
, but the doctor didn’t see any inflammation and said he didn’t see any evidence of cirrhosis. Granted, this is a high level and not in depth check as I hope to get from my GI.
