Mini maze update.
Apologies I know I promised to post updates and haven't. I had my mini maze surgery back in September with the wonderful Mr Hunter on the NHS. I've been in NSR ever since which is amazing as I had moved to persistant Afib and I felt pretty awful all the time before surgery. I am soooo grateful to Mr

Greetings from an AF sufferer.
Hello all, Firstly I just wanted to introduce myself as this is the first time that I have been on the site, secondly I wanted to share my experiences of AF with you all and see if anyone has had similar issues. Many years ago when I was 18 (Now 39) I suffered my first bout of what I now know to

Atrioesophageal fistula (AEF)
Heads up to those undergoing cardiac ablation for Afib…had my ablation 12/6/23. Everything went great! Been in normal rhythm ever since! No bleeding, no hematoma, no real discomfort. However I woke up to abdominal pain, pain between shoulder blades and sore throat. 3 nights post op woke up to a burning

Proposed ablation next week. 48 Yr old. PAF
Hi all, I have been on waiting list for a catheter ablation for over a year. They called me today and offered an ablation next week at a private hospital instead. Has taken me a bit by surprise to be honest. My AF is paroxysmal and generally very tolerable. I'm 48 so not sure if I should go ahead with

Groin pain from catheter ablation
Harefield hospital carried out an ablation for AF and flutter Jan 2023. There was a black area of my groin/thigh that was black. Since the operation I get a dull inner pain in my thigh going down my leg a few inches. This problem / annoyance does not effect my activities and I am only aware of it when

Palpitations worse after ablation
Good evening everyone, I’m really struggling after my catheter ablation 10 days ago. The palpitations and ectopics I’m experiencing are awful. So different to the palpitations I was having before my ablation. They are very erratic. I have Dilated Cardiomyopathy and AVNRT. I know it’s early days

AF has not returned after all
When seeing my new EP regarding another ablation for the return of AF, I was informed that my episodes in January and March of this year were not AF but SVT. Specifically, they believe I have AVNRT (atrioventricular nodal reentrant tachycardia). So for now, I am back on diltiazem until I can be scheduled

Contemplating ablate and pace
I've been lurking this forum for some years now. Less so when I'm happily in NSR, but more so, as now, when things go off the rails. I'm almost 75 and have been fighting AF for about 15+ years. From the first diagnosis, all sorts of toxic and scary meds (Tikosyn in recent years which has actually worked

I have had a pacemaker implant, recently and waiting for an AV Node Ablation, for which I am feeling extremely anxious about. Has anyone out there had this procedure? I would like to know their experiences- hope fully positive ones. Thank you

Bisoprolol
HiOn 1.25mg bisoprolol for heart failure also have LVSD, AFib and had AV node ablation and pacemaker. My pacemaker is set 70bpm hr so doesn't really go any higher than this and I believe the purpose of bisoprolol is to lower heart rate, so the question is why do I need bisoprolol when my heart rate is

6 months AF free
6months today since my hybrid mini maze., at Sheffield Northern General. Mostly good with a few bumps in the road. When I’m feeling frustrated/frightened if my heart starts to bounce, I try to remind myself that I’m ok. Kardia nearly always says nsr, only twice in 6 months said unclassified and never

pace maker and node ablation
I had a pacemaker fitted due to persistent AF that was not responding to medication. I started passing out without warning so it was a decision I had to make. Due to the AF still persisting I had an AV node ablation 4 weeks later. I really thought that I could at last live a normal life. I am 75

AF & AV node ablation confusion
Hi,So I have had pace n ablate, pacemaker dependent also have HF. Does anyone know if you can still be in AF after AV node ablation and pacemaker dependent? I was informed by a doctor after a recent visit to A&E that due to AV node ablation and being dependent on a pacemaker that AF shouldn't occur

AVnode ablation
All,Has anyone out there had an av node ablation? I have been in persistent afib since feb of this year, and meds are not working. My quality of life has been miserable. I have a pacemaker with wires in my ventricles and my heart rate is very well controlled. It's the afib which is so bothersome.
