Diagnosed with Emphysema
Hi everyone. After being diagnosed with COPD 7 years ago, and having an annual spirometry test at my Group Practice, I had my first appointment with a Consultant yesterday . He was a lovely man and was somewhat surprised that I hadn't been referred before, but in all honesty I've never really had much

Osteoporosis and Osteonecrosis
I also have many other medical health problems and one of my main health problems is
Emphysema
and flattened diaphragm due to the Scheuermans disease and the kyphoscolliosis. In March 2015 I underwent a 6 hour operation to replace both my jaw joints with titanium implants.

Room for one more? Recently diagnosed with emphysema without any obvious cause.
Hope you have room for one more ☺️ I have recently been diagnosed with severe unilateral panlobuloar
emphysema
with several large bullae in the lower lobe. Due to the
emphysema
I have moderate COPD.

I have

ECigs how bad are they for an emphysema patient?
How bad are e cigs for
emphysema
patients? I'm trying to get my father to quit smoking and thought that the ecig could be a solution to help quit. Replace the cigs with a ecig and then slowly wean off of the ecigs.

Smoker for 10 years
I'm going to go back to my doctor if the pain persists but what's the chances of me having mild
emphysema
? I have been exercising as much as I can on the bike but recently stopped altogether as its a constant reminder of the damage I've done.

What is it, really?
It was discovered that I had mild
emphysema
. That was no shock as I had smoked until 12 years prior to that scan. A second CT scan two years ago revealed the same diagnosis - mild
emphysema
with no other changes. I don't have a cough, never have had bronchitis nor asthma.

Vitamin D
When I was first diagnosed with
Emphysema
2011 I was given bone density scan and blood test for Vit D, my levels were really low so my consultant gave me Colcalciferol two a week for three months, then a blood test, then one a week.

Feeling lost!
My husband has end stage COPD, lung cancer and
emphysema
. He has gone downhill in the last few weeks and I don't know what to do. He is on hospice and his doctor says less than 2 months. He sleeps all the time and when he is awake, he is angry at me for trying to help.

General introduction.
I was first diagnosed with C.O.P.D in 2008/209 but it quickly changed into
Emphysema
and more recently Bronchiolitis. I have many other complex health issues of which are all on-going.

Does Alpha-1 progress faster than non-genetic emphysema?
Does hereditary
emphysema
(alpha-1) progress faster than your average
emphysema
? I'm assuming since it happens earlier in life (I'm 37) that it does. Do all genotypes (ZZ, MZ, SZ, etc) tend to progress the same? I know ZZ type is much more likely to develop liver issues.

COPD
I haven't given the disease much thought up to now or its profression but my mum dies of
emphysema
ten years ago and the consultant said it can run in families. I swim once a week and do Ceroc dancing, over last year noticed I can't do the fast dances anymore.

Help please with questions I should be asking
A bit of background….After a winter of severe bouts of bronchitis, I was sent for a CT scan in July which showed
emphysema
lesions & a 7mm nodule. I have another CT scan due end of September to check if this ‘nodule’ has changed. I was a very enthusiastic 30 a day smoker for the last 4 decades.

I'm new here
I was diagnosed COPD/
Emphysema
a long time ago in the UK but obviously didn't take it seriously enough. I had got used to being out of breath and adapted accordingly ... except for giving up smoking .... Addictions are insane!! Moved out to Spain with my husband in 2004.
