“Parkinsonism can be psychogenic, and psychogenic parkinsonism is about 10% of psychogenic movement disorder patients. Patients can present with any feature or combination of features of organic Parkinson’s disease. There are clinical clues that can lead to the correct diagnosis, and laboratory testing with clinical neurophysiology or DAT (dopamine transporter) scanning can be helpful as well. Patients may have both organic Parkinson’s disease and psychogenic parkinsonism, and this might be considered a psychologically induced aggravation of the organic disorder.”

Kia,

I found this particular type of PD, Psychogenic, some time ago. Very interesting. The question is if someone is on B1 therapy per Dr. C's protocol, how would it affect Psychogenic Parkinson's symptoms?

It’s really hard to say since the symptoms for organic and psychologenic are similar.I think its better the Psychogenic PD diagnosed and differentiated from the organic one first then look into different treatment options depending in the diagnosis.Has your PD confirmed by a DATScan?

Unfortunately, NO! The Mayo neurologist did just a physical eval (March 2018) and told us that he wouldn't prescribe any meds (thank God!) for another 1-2 years. He never suggested any kind of testing!!! My husband started MP about a month ago, but he tells me that he doesn't really feel any different. We have an appointment with a local DO on October 1. Will see what he says/recommends and go from there.

I know my husband and I have been through a lot of stressful situations, moving around the world for more than 40 years, plus family emergencies. He never expressed any feelings about anything we went through. . .now he reveals to me that he is scared of flying and always has been. I never knew about it and he never revealed that to me!

Before I was diagnosed wity DatScan, I had consulted with several Neurologists. Why don’t you try another neurologist? In my opinion ,the differentiation between Organic and Pyschogenic can be done by DatScan. If the DatScan is positive then almost 90% of diagnosis is done. If no conclusive results from DatScan found then the diagnosis will be through a multidisciplinary approach between neurologist and psychiatrist.

Kia, unfortunately there are not many neurologists or MDS's in my town. The appointment I have for October 1 was given to me about 6 months ago! I made another appointment with a MDS at a major university hospital (Vanderbilt), but it's in May 2019, a year from the date I made it. I have been playing doctor to find out information and therapy protocols reading this good site and searching the net. I am physically and mentally exhausted, trying to help my husband.

I have psychogenic pd and have benefited from thiamine. Heres my best guess. The reason it helps is because thiamine powers the mitochondria, which are stressed in all forms of pd. Im sure even people with other fatigue issues like fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome could benefit from thiamine too. Having psychogenic pd is exhausting since the mind is in fight or flight mode all the time.

bassofspades, thank you! I started to seriously believe that my husband's PD is psychogenic. He is on B1 injections protocol after emailing Dr. C. my husband's medical history, vitamins protocol, pull test, reading and walking video. He had the injections for a month, but Dr. C. after looking at the 2nd video he told us to stop it for a week, send him a new video and he would then give us the new dosage. We sent him the new video, and the good doctor asked my husband to up his dosage from 200ml a week to 250ml a week. So far the only improvement I have noticed is his energy (he was taking 30 min naps), but now he doesn't even mention that he needs a nap. Occasional arm swing, but not constant. His smell has improved, smelling certain foods I cook and essential oils I use. We have to try the new 250ml dosage for 2 months. After that, we will email Dr. C. a new video with the usual pull test, reading and walking. He will give us his assessment at that time. I actually believe that this is a high dosage, but I am not the doctor.

Actually you don't scale up from rodents to humans life for like due to different metabolisms:

So I think the amount to benefit humans for Rheumatoid Arthritis might be around 1 gram
