Hi everyone, I’m completely new to endometriosis I was surprised I had it after my laparoscopy last week. I was diagnosed with mild to moderate superficial endometriosis, which was treated with diathermy. I’ve been advised to go on the Mirena coil or progesterone only pill (my mum had breast cancer so I need to avoid estrogen) but I’m reluctant to go back on hormone contraceptives as I haven’t got on well with them in the past. The doctor rang me today and asked when I plan to have children?? I’m just confused if the endometriosis was removed does that still mean I may have difficulty conceiving in the future? I have read endometriosis can return in time. Anyway any advice or information would be greatly appreciated 😊

Hey,

Totally understand your concerns, I don't get on well with progesterone only pills. There's something called the pill ladder, different pills have different ingredients. Worth looking at the active ingredient of the hormonal pills you've tried before to avoid any pills with those in it. This is what my GP showed me when we discussed my pill.

Sadly you will need to chose something that will (hopefully) control the endometriosis now you've had surgery. Its important it is controlled both the symptoms and the progression of the disease.

Some women with endometriosis struggle with fertility but not everyone. For example I know 4 women with severe endo (stage IV who have all conceived). There's no pattern really. Having endometriosis doesn't automatically mean you'll have issues conceiving. Endometriosis uk have a lot of good info on their website if you haven't seen it already.

If you want info on what natural things have helped with my endo symptoms please feel free to private message me (not allowed to post links on here).

Hope you find a pill that works and hasn't got many sides effects

Take care.

I can't wait to remove my Mirena coil. I started having sudden mood swings and some anxiety crises. By otherhand my period was never so regular. I had it fit due to a fibroid but didn't help at all.

Well how old are you?

Where is your Endometriosis?

What staging are you at?

Endometriosis if it's on the reproductive organs will cause possibe problems with conceiving. For me my Endometriosis was a extreme form, stage 4 at a early age from lungs to bowel with deep adhesions scars with organ disortion.

Endometriosis can cause pain, some bad but there are woman who have the disease, no symptoms!

If you are going to have children. Is would be wise to take drugs that will slow or stop the Endometriosis to give you the best chance of making a pregnancy.

With every operation you will make scar tissue. These can also cause pain. So try not to have too many over time.

Endometriosis loves your female hormones, if loves soya, it love histamine! Histamine is in some foods.

For me I found going gluten and Lactose helps with bloating in the stomach and bowel.

Hi, they never gave me a stage for my endometriosis they just said it was mild and superficial and was spread around but managed to treat it all during diathermy
