Preparing for transplant
Dr says, OK, but trend is downward and you should get prepared for
dialysis
and transplant. Lots of sobbing. He suggests a fistula for which he has seen improved kidney function. Can any of you please comment on this ?

Hello MS family
He is now on a ventilator & is on
dialysis
. I am asking prayers for God to heal him. He is only 84 & we all need him. We lost his son last Nov. I don't think the family will survive loosing papaw this soon. I know God has more work for him to do right here on earth.

Over 65? Newly low eGFR?
Age related kidney decline is not CKD and folks in their 70s and 80s with a eGFR in the 40s and 50s, with no underlying disease, are unlikely to ever sit in a
dialysis
chair or have their kidney function lead to death.

And so it begins......home dialysis
I am headed for
dialysis
within the next month or two. NO getting around it now. No chance for reversal or improvement at this point. It was a good fight. I have some questions to start learning about this process. I will be doing home hemodialysis.

struggling with fatigue, anyone else?
I was recently in hospital and ended up very ill with sepsis and I’m also on
dialysis
3 times a week but since I got discharged I’m really struggling and the simple tasks totally exhausts me. I’m hoping I will get better over time but I hate feeling so weak.

I have a eGFR of 10 and still avoiding
dialysis
. I am 75 and the transplant team will not consider a deceased kidney. So I am searching for a live donor. I have 2 people I know who are being evaluated. I am awaiting approval of my story on National Kidney Registry.

My mam starts
dialysis
3 times a week starting tomorrow she also has diabetes and we are so confused as to what she can eat after her
dialysis
the dietician we spoke to was completely useless and mentioned foods that are not suitable for diabetes even though we told her multiple times she was still going

She does not want
dialysis
. Will she get better? Or are the good days just that and temporary? One week ago we were ready for hospice because her breathing was bad and she had not eaten for a couple of days. Then she bounces back. Is this normal? How can we best handle this situation?

anxiety during dialysis
a multitude of health problems lead to her finally having to go on
dialysis
. She has been on it, and in and out of the hospital and rehab, for 4 months. Now she is home. she still is having trouble getting through the sessions.

Vein mapping today
Well they wanted me to come back for vein mapping on a non
dialysis
day so we went in. Basically same results...my veins are tiny and probably won't support a fistula so a graft is the next option. I'm waiting for the surgeon to review the file and give me a call.

What to do with cramps?
I have had only three
dialysis
treatments and by the second one, I had cramps in my legs and feet. Yesterday, I administered saline back into my system and the cramps stopped at the treatment center. However, later at night.....holy mackerel..... I was in agony.

Lab work
Since my BP at
dialysis
on Thursday was low I stopped the second BP med and it’s better. My cholesterol has come way down too so I’m happy about that. It’s such a tight rope with eating… need to gain 10-15 lbs and the food higher in calories could cause cholesterol to rise.

eGFR moving up???
Back in 2020 everyone was convinced I'd be on
dialysis
within 6 months. Now, I'm hopeful I can skip it all together because I'll get to the top of the list before my EGFR gets below 10 again. Cross fingers.

Feeling isolated & depressed
My 60-year-old husband is in renal failure, on nightly peritoneal
dialysis
, and on the transplant list. I've been feeling frustrated, anxious and isolated, and that often comes out in anger.

Questions
The time has come when I need to make a decision about whether to go with hemo or peritoneal
dialysis
. That brings up many questions. If on peritoneal
dialysis
do you ever get a decent nights sleep or are you constantly awakened with alarms pain etc.
