I feel like they are trying to kill me.
I’m new to
dialysis
. I’ve been going for 3 months. The first 2 weeks were ruff, as my body got used to it. Them things started to go well. These last two weeks have been bad again. I get hot, develop a really bad headache and muscle cramps.

COVID-19 and Kidney "issues"
Here is a small statement from the NKF and I'm sure there is more information on their kidney.org website if you look: "COVID-19 is causing acute kidney injury (AKI) in about 15% of all hospitalized coronavirus patients, many of whom now need
dialysis
.

A warning to older men on dialysis and those who have had transplants
The warning is this: if you are a man and on
dialysis
you may not be peeing much, if at all, and therefore the usual symptoms of prostate would not show. Consider requesting a PSA test so that if you have prostate cancer it can be detected early.

Update
Nurse told me that the
dialysis
would not make a difference to these levels. They did reduce the sedation to see for a response and he bit the tube. He is still in
dialysis
. His liver has neither deteriorated or improved since being admitted.

Finding an open chair on short notice
Since this was across the weekend, he went four days without
dialysis
. To say he was a wreck after that is an understatement. Does anyone know of a way for patients to swap treatment times?

Creatinine of 18, but kidney function returning.
I was given about 8
dialysis
treatments - had a reaction to heparin, so they could not do a kidney biopsy because my platelets were low. In the meantime, my creatinine levels started to improve, as did urine output. The diagnosis was interstitial nephritis “without proof.”

Waking up from deep sedatives in ICU.
It was successful but in the midst of all this trauma, he was placed on
dialysis
and the ECMO machine to help strengthen his heart. It worked and they were able to remove him from it but kept him on a ventilator.

Wait time for transplant
But I’m been down this road before and I’m remember that if I didn’t have
dialysis
, the alternative would be much worse. Take care of your health okay so when the kidney comes, you’ll have the best chance of keeping it for a long time.. maybe you’ll pass 23 years!!😊 Scallat

Feeling Lost & Empty & Numb as a Female Caregiver; Does anyone else feel this way?
Since he has been on Home Peritoneal
Dialysis
and instead of using 2 bags of fluids at night, they had to increase it to 3 bags (to hopefully bring down his weight). And, that has not helped at all.

Deteriorated even further
He had an X-ray yesterday which showed his chest is clear but his liver is so severely damaged and it’s attacking his kidneys so he now is on
dialysis
. The doctors have said that he has a slim chance of survival and me and his family are devastated.

Preventing hair loss post transplant
Ever since covid started, i’ve been stressed out more that usual and my health on
dialysis
was a little rocky a few months before transplant so i’ve notice that my hair has been falling out more (again).

Partner fighting in ICU
He has now been put on
dialysis
to help his kidneys and I’m going out of my mind with worry. I have spoken to two consultants who both said that my partner is very unwell and the outlook is not good.

Chemo induced kidney problems
I am also concerned that if my kidneys have been permanently damaged a double whammy might ensue - i.e. need for
dialysis
. I have started having a walk and jog for 2.5K a couple of times a week and do not feel ill at all - although I have no chance of running as I did previously..
