Building lean mass as a Type 1 diabetic following a Ketogenic diet.
I have experimented with TKD using around 20g
dextrose
monohydrate before or after a gym session however I have only tried this a few times as I am unsure whether; a) the amount of carbs is significant enough to make a difference to muscle growth; b) I am going to kick myself out of ketosis if I increase

Can PCOS affect type 1 diabetes?
Hi, I'm new to this, but was just reading in the comments that many with this condition get tested for insulin resistance etc. I've never been offered this and was wondering if PCOS could affect my glucose control as I'm type 1?

Post ablation anniversary and the best birthday gift
I'd just like to touch base with my AF family. It's now been one year since my ablation (right on my birthday) and difficult two months recovery after that. Shortly, I feel great - still not any medication although I will eventually start Eliquis (again). Keeping my blood pressure and glucose levels

Anyone tried this??

High in pyrazine and the enzyme nattokinase, blood thinners that can prevent thrombosis (blot clot formations) by essentially devouring arterial

How can you eat correctly when you don't know how digestion works? Everything goes through the liver, right? Suppose it isn't that simple.
There are "experts" who argue for all of the many types of diet. The low carb vs high carb or low fat vs high fat supporters all argue for their views. How can you possibly make any sense of it? It is complex but knowing a few fundamental things can help. You probably know that the brain burns glucose

My experience with a keto diet
I want to share my unsuccessful experience. I started keto diet couple of weeks ago. By the end of 1st week my PD symptoms progressed dramatically up to the point that I could not go to work one day. Basically medications did not kick in at all or lasted for an hour or so. I was taking one pill after

3rd day, 1st day after R/B, Neulesta and Platelets
Saw Hematologist at Emory Winship after giving blood for update 1 day after chemo. Dr. said nodes are already diminishing. Scheduled me for every Monday for a month to monitor whites and platelets. Sent me on to IFR for Neulesta. I learned it is a shot, and had a choice of belly or arms, chose left arm

ANH article ~ Ultra processed food dangers: Why we need to cook more from scratch
21 February 2018 Take a trip through any supermarket and you’re likely to be dazzled and seduced; bombarded by the seemingly unlimited choice of ready-to-eat, drink or plastic-wrapped products. Food manufacturers have mastered their art and know just how to draw us in, pushing foods in their whole state

5.7 glucose reading after eating morning snack
Hi I want to check if a finger prick glucose reading of 5.7 after eating light snacks in the morning (this was well after breakfast the reading was taken at 10.50 when I started to feel light headed and woozy and generally agitated - breakfast usually I eat around 7am) is this a normal reading after

Nature Calls --- sometimes I get too cute for my own good
A surprising number of people have asked to enroll in this study so I have to admit that there is no formal trial. I wanted to discuss fructose and the state of health in the country but this didn't work as well as I'd hoped. It is worth noting, however, that there is a real trial going on and as a

Do you have diabetes or prediabetes and anxiety?
It is a medical fact that is rarely taken into account when testing for blood glucose that anxiety can raise blood glucose levels by a significant amount. When we are anxious the body thinks it's because we're in danger and the liver releases extra glucose into the blood stream to give us extra energy

Newbie... diagnosed with CFS in 2015, seen lots of ‘ologists... but think it’s thyroid related. Help!
Hi, I am a 48 year old female. Have symptoms of hypothyroidism, but diagnosed CFS March 2015. My TSH through my doctors was 3.1 at this time. My symptoms have got so bad that I can’t work. Any amount of stress just adds to my fatigue. Being stressed did lower my immune system and brought on herpes virus
