Post ablation anniversary and the best birthday gift

I'd just like to touch base with my AF family. It's now been one year since my ablation (right on my birthday) and difficult two months recovery after that. Shortly, I feel great - still not any medication although I will eventually start Eliquis (again). Keeping my blood pressure and glucose levels in check, walking 2-3 miles every day. I think that I went through all phases including shock upon first getting Afib, hospitalization, medication, depression, failed medication, ablation, tough recovery and now... I feel like a new man. I hope this lasts - knock on wood.

I have my coffee every day, twice a week glass of wine and sometimes beer.

I changed my diet dramatically. It is now high fat Mediterranean diet - a lots of REAL olive oil with lemon juice (dips with toast), avocados, salads with all kinds of vegetables, fish but NO rice, pasta and very rarely red meat. The result is that I lost even more weight despite high calories from olive oil and avocados.

My thanks again to all of you. You were the light when I was in the Afib tunnel.

I see that Bob is still there helping others like me. Thank you Bob (and others) for all the work you are doing.

Hi adriatico. Congratulations on your anniversary and the health changes you've made. Here's to continued success with your AF tx. I also had an ablation and pacemaker in 2016 and a Watchman Procedure this past January. Hopefully will be off coumadin soon. Good luck to us both. I don't drink alcohol except on very rare occasions and then not much but I am thinking of taking my last dose of coumadin soon with a little champagne. LOL. Celebrating is good! Take care. irina1975
