Switched from prednisone to
dexamethasone
last month to give my body a change of drug. I am young ( relatively!) and healthy ( relatively!). I play soccer, ski and hike. Could I do one of the following? With the hope of remaining stable longer. 1.

Feeling overwhelmed and anxious with a constant lump in my throat.
After having some severe rashes, my rheumatologist prescribed steroids (
dexamethasone
) which have caused me to put on lots of weight. I also take hydroxychloroquine.

Going off steroid
Hi Everyone, I developed cataracts in each eye and the eye doctor believes it is from the
Dexamethasone
I have been on for the last several years. It was only .5 mil. per day, but enough to cause them. My oncologist told me last week that I could stop taking the steroid.

New member with moldy bones (metastases)...here to get involved...
I then immediately went back on Docetaxel and it (along with inflammation-reducing
dexamethasone
) got me back to near normal. During the trial-waiting period my PSA had climbed from 1.0 after chemo to 115 and after the new chemo it dropped to 60.

LOW PSA BUT CT SCAN PROGRESSION
Then if my PSA rises my plan is to switch Zytiga/ prednisone to Zytiga/
dexamethasone
and/ or try to BAT which I will have to do outside of my MO as not standard of care.

Roller Coaster
Finally got to see my oncologist who recommended steroids,
dexamethasone
for two weeks. The effect was instant and amazing, fatigue greatly improved although still get tired on exertion but at least I can do small chores again and feel much more motivated.

Do steroid bursts work and do they have the dreaded side effects?
I react very badly to
dexamethasone
(apparently 4x stronger than prednisone) and wonder if 2 to 3 week 'bursts' of dex has worked for others who have extreme reactions to it and if the bursts give them/you the same side effects as longer doses.

Low ferritin?
I was finally sent to an endocrinologist (due to higher than normal cortisol levels, they then discounted Cushing's through a normal low-dose
dexamethasone
suppression test).

What do I do next?
This was enough to get a low-dose
dexamethasone
suppression test which came back normal. My new GP sent me to an endo to be safe.

Any Alternative to Dexamethasone?
I am having an extreme reaction to
Dexamethasone
withdrawal after 4 days of 40 mg doses; extreme dizziness, intense abdominal pain, unusual tiredness, weakness, fever, chills, eye tearing, head pressure, agitation, hunger but cannot eat, etc., etc. It has raised my platelets from 11 to 153 BUT!!

Steroid taper when ending Zytiga
I know it's usually prednisone, but in my case it was wreaking havoc on my glucose even at half dosage, so they put me on
dexamethasone
instead. Can any of you tell me what your experiences were with going off ADT and how they handled reducing the steroids?

SLE and fibromyalgia?
I'm here because he started me on
dexamethasone
because the prednisolone was so much harsher on the stomach however as I've started it, I feel so out of it. Does this make you put on weight as much as the prednisolone?

Effect of chemotherapy on RLS
One possibility is that it could have been the steroids, because they gave me a dose of
dexamethasone
with each cycle of treatment (6 cycles at 3 week intervals). This was given as an anti-emetic (Iwas still sick) and continued for 5 days in decreasing doses.

Treatment for ulcers in vagina
Hello, just curious to people experience using Daktacort or Betamethasone Valerate cream for genital ulcers. Also if there are any other recommendations for treatment in this delicate area. My consultant prescribed me Betamethasone Valerate however my GP has prescribed Daktacort so I’m wondering why

Help! Any experiences with Ozurdex implant?
I've been having injections every 4-6 weeks to try and counteract this but unfortunately the injections have stopped working :( I've been offered the option of the Ozurdex
dexamethasone
intravitreal impant but I am feeling apprehensive about starting a new treatment.

He was on Norco but now being prescribed Morphine and
Dexamethasone
. Trying to keep him as comfortable as possible and it seems to be working. He is a very young 94, extremely positive and doesn’t want to end up in hospital.

Are high doses of prednisone dangerous for my cirrhosis?
I saw someone in my doctors office who gave me
dexamethasone
and carafate mouth rinses. They did nothing. I saw my dentist, who was completely puzzled and sent me to an oral surgeon, who put me on methylprednisolone 6 day pack.
