How to restart unresponsive adrenals?
Long term (12yrs) steroid user (Betamethasone now and Prednisolone at the start) for Asthma. I have Steroid induced Type-2 diabetes and high blood pressure amongst other things. Adrenals are unresponsive to the injected 'infusion' test. I've been advised by the chest consultant at my local general

Natural alternatives to dexamethasone/steroids for anti-nausea prior to chemo?
It’s routine they give
dexamethasone
prior to I/v chemo for nausea. I don’t want steroids. Does anyone else have suggestions for other meds/natural alternatives? TIA x

Rising PSA after chemo, next steps?
Or switching from prednisone to
dexamethasone
to be used adjunctively with the abiraterone? At what point do we consider other treatments? Is there imaging we should get now rather than waiting? He has had no side effects from any of the treatments so far, except for hair loss from the chemo.

Losing my determination
Still got some issues of after effects but much better once free of the high dose of
Dexamethasone
steroid. Wish I could use Prednisolone now instead. My worry is that my next appointment with this consultant will not be until late January with no actual date/time set yet.

I’m confused! I did do almost 2 months ago a single half dosage of chemo. But my results have been insane
I did four days of high-dose
dexamethasone
. By the time those four days were over I was not able to walk without a cane. And I spent 23 1/2 hours of every day in bed. Now I’m walking around fine, and I just don’t get it.

Is the fluey feeling, with prickly skin that I get every afternoon from PMR or prednisone?
I react badly to pred: had to have chemo stopped (
dexamethasone
). Am on 8 mg: still very stiff shoulders and hips each morning; very fluey, unreal, skin funny all afternoon. Good and normal after 6 pm. I take my pred: 6 mg at 3 am; 2 mg at 11. It is better than all at once.

Advice sought: on four day high dose dexamethasone
I'm about to start four days of 40mg
dexamethasone
. Any advice as to how to best deal with this drug experience would be appreciated. What should I eat, not eat, do, not do? I really don't like speedy drugs but I'm hoping this will knock my platelets back into line.

He was doing well on
dexamethasone
. Hes been on them for about 3 months. They are now taking him off of them over 4 weeks.. hes 2 weeks in. Why is this? Can patients not stay on
dexamethasone
long term? Its like they want him to get worse.. lose his dignity completely and ultimately die :(

High Dose Dexamethasone Pulse Treatment
Hello Everyone, As I stated earlier, I am newly diagnosed with ITP. I see most of us have had disappointing results with various treatments. I originally had a Count of 15 with no other symptoms except petechiae on my legs. My hematologist put me on a 4 day course of DEX 40mg per day x 4 days. After

Medical Oncologist-- "you have been on therapy- radiotherapy then
dexamethasone
which is a hormonal therapy and clinically you have done well. No protocol would allow you to enter since you had no signs of progression. That is great!

SST SYNACHTEN TEST
Take
dexamethasone
pills in the evening and test morning cortisol… I always thought this test is made in the morning one measure, injection, second measure. Can I trust an option with the pills? If it’s not worth it I would not bother making it and search for an injection version.

Wherever the evidence leads…
Does it work alone (mono therapy) or must it be combined with other things such as antibiotics or
dexamethasone
or Vitamin D or zinc or whatever? Are there contraindications? All these questions should be carefully answered assuming you have the luxury of time.
