Hi all Am due to have a tooth out, am seeing consultant in 10 days....my dentist refused to do treatment as on aspirin and hydroxycarmabide. Has anyone else had an extraction and if so did you stop taking aspirin beforehand. Many thanks..

Medical Anxiety through the roof

Have had to postpone some dental treatment because couldn’t cope and had thought I was improving but am now scheduled for a heart ultrasound, and following a positive FIT test for a gastroscopy and am struggling to hold it together.

Your 'teeth and gums' could be CAUSING your PD!

I know I need additional dental work that I've been putting off... until I read this: "Two Cases of Parkinson’s Disease for Which Treatment Was Effective" https://www.scirp.org/journal/paperinformation.aspx?

dental treatment and antibiotic cover

Endocarditis is a horrific thing and while the risk with dental treatment is low, it can happen. Take care.

Dental treatment. Tooth extraction.

I (82years old) have mastocytosis. One of my teeth has to be extracted. Has anybody had any experience with local anaesthetics and the necessary medication for the procedure? Is there a dentist in London who would treat under the circumstances, private or NHS. I am quite desperate and very grateful for

Am I at risk of having too much calcium in my blood?

in the summer I was informed that I would require some dental treatment, possibly an implant.

Having dental treatment whilst on warfarin

I am 78, male and take warfarin for atrial fibrillation. I have to have a wisdom tooth extracted and a gum deep clean because of gum disease. I will need to take warfarin as usual but am worried about the possibility of heavy and uncontrollable bleeding and also because the NHS dentist wants to perform

what’s next after teriparatide

And I have a broken tooth but because my dentist just took everyone off their NHS list during covid (apparently my fault because I didn’t contact them) I can’t now get NHS dental treatment till January.. I absolutely cannot afford to go private. Obviously I don’t want any more fractures either!

Antibiotic cover for dental treatment

Hi. I’m at high risk of endocarditis as I’ve had it before and have a mechanical valve. I’ve got a couple of dental appointments coming up and the dentist refuses to prescribe antibiotic cover, citing NICE guidelines. M gp is reluctant to prescribe too on the basis of the same guidelines. I don’t have

Learning to live with PMR

Around the same time, some dental treatment requiring 2 days of steroids resulted in an immediate 'cure'. Finally when I saw a rheumatologist in September and told him this, he diagnosed PMR - I'd never heard of it!

possible to improve C Telopeptide Serum blood test for risk of osteonecrosis?

I was told to wait at least 9 months after coming off the bone drug, then get the blood test and once cleared, they could get a dental treatment plan together. I took the test about 4.5 months in, and the results were 84. I was told anything under 100 was too high risk still.

Updated patient information for dental patients taking anticoagulants or antiplatelet drugs

An updated patient information leaflet, ‘Anticoagulant or Antiplatelet Medication and Your Dental Treatment’ is also available for patients taking these drugs. This leaflet explains the importance of telling the dentist about the medication, and how dental treatment might be affected by the drugs.

Really bad DEXA scan result

I had to agree to the Zoledronic acid but have to see the dentist first because apparently if I need dental treatment after the infusion, no dentist will go near me! It's this awful necrosis of the jaw which is a side effect.

Lamictal & dental treatment

I am new here so please do bear with me. I'm starting much needed dental as my teeth are crumbling & falling out. I've been on Lamictal since my first seizure in 2013 and now on 500mg (300am/200pm) Concerned about local used to freeze - There is data everywhere but only for GA. I'm having trouble
