I am currently tapering 6mg predisolone and taking 17 1/2mg Methotrexate . All is well and no problems. I am due to have a dental crown fitted. The dentist says it’s OK as he won’t be exposing the gum area where infection is possible. So I’m checking with you wonderful people that I can still take this drugs as normal or any other advice.

Hello. If you’ve had have preparatory work done (filing down of old tooth) it’s very likely that it’s just a case of cementing on the new crown. 😁
I’ve had extractions and a dental implant during the time I’ve had PMR and on Pred. All fine with no infections at all. I was ultra careful and obsessive with the cleaning and mouth washing. I upped my pred the day of the surgery but just for that day, really to help my body cope with the stress and at the advice of the dental surgeon. All fine. I wasn’t on methotrexate though. I know that biphosphonates (may not have spelled that correctly) can be a problem but with a good dentist and good oral hygiene I think you should be ok.
