Sierra Ferris
I had
DBS
two years ago, it doesn't appear to have helped a great deal. I live in the UK and am considering a consultation with Sierra, just wondered if anyone has seen this lady and their experiences. I was diagnosed 10years ago at 40

DBS self adjusting
For those that have
DBS
, how many of you have been instructed by your programmer to adjust the voltage intensity? How about pulse width or frequency?

When is the right time for DBS surgery?
I've been given conflicting advice as to when is the optimal time to have
DBS
surgery. I consider myself to be fairly high functioning ie, I still drive and work full-time. But now I walk with a pronounced limp. I can barely speak above a whisper and can't even hold a pen let alone write my name.

DBS
I had
DBS
surgery in August & chose the asleep method done at UCSF. It's been slow going as my Graves Disease came to life again after being removed with radioactive iodine 10 yrs ago. We are still fine tuning & keep hoping for solutions. I take comtan & car/levo every hour & 45 minutes.

Hair after DBS surgery
I realize that hair growth is not high priority to people who have a disabling disease like Parkinson's, but I am curious to know how long after
DBS
surgery it was before the hair over the incision started to grow back.

DBS a week later
Friday I underwent the second procedure of the stimulator being wired up to the portals into my cranium. This was a 45 minute same day event. It is actually a little more painful post event due to the tunneling of the wires from the subclavicular site of the stimulator up to the top of my head. All

DBS stage one Request for PMOS unknown
Monday I underwent the first stage of
DBS
at Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland. The procedure is done under full anesthesia utilizing a previous MRI and a small cat scan during surgery to accurately target the treatment site that for me was the Globus pallidus internus.

Pre DBS musings... making the blind eye see
Next week this time, I'll be in surgery for
DBS
at OHSU in Portland OR under the care of Dr Kim Burchiel, one of the worlds leading authorities on PD. I find myself anticipating the best outcomes knowing that it is not a cure but rather a symptom management with less drugs.

Boston Scientific's "Vercise DBS System"
Anyone here in Europe or Australia that has with the "Vercise
DBS
System"? It apparently stimulates with shorter pulses and a 25 year battery.

Dbs surgery -- if you have had dbs surgery please tell me about your experience after the electrode implant.
I have had the stage 1 surgery and it is a month before the second stage controller implant. In the meantime , my Parkinson's symptoms have gotten so much worse. After the second stage, it will be 3 more weeks before the programming. I can barely function now. I am afraid that after the 2nd surgery

Sleep?
My neurologist and programmer for my
DBS
said increased sleeping times can be improved by the surgery at my programming session last week, but i never expected this. Hope the improved sleep length continues.

DBS and immobility
For those of you who have had
DBS
surgery-- When I wake up in the morning, I can't move. It is a great effort to reach for the pill bottle. Everything is stiff including my hands. Will
DBS
help this?

I B S irritable bowel syndrome
Well I can remember my mother stroking her tummy with pain, now I know what it feels like. She one time had it running down her legs. It feels like the first stages of labour, sometimes a sudden need to go to the loo, and endless wiping.(wiping in-between too) Your bowel is going into a gazump, gripping

Pramipexole and compulsive disorder
Hi, have just been prescribed Premipexole. I'm concerned because it says it's not suitable if you've have compulsive behaviour problems and I used to have an online gambling problem. Will it matter if I take a low dose? I'd rather have RLS than chance getting back to gambling. HS anyone else had any
