Interference From High-Dose Biotin Intake in Immunoassays for Potentially Time-Critical Analytes by Roche
This paper not only identifies and discusses biotin interference in blood test results - but also suggests specific approaches which can overcome the issue. At the time of posting, the full paper is freely accessible, albeit an Early Release version. That means, it might be updated before a final version

Supplements Protecting Against Cyclosporine Toxicity

A randomised single-centre trial of inhaled liposomal cyclosporine for bronchiolitis obliterans syndrome post-lung transplantation.
Outcomes after lung transplantation are poor due to bronchiolitis obliterans. Since bronchiolitis obliterans is not readily demonstrated by lung biopsies, the term bronchiolitis obliterans syndrome (BOS) is applied, defined as a sustained forced expiratory volume in 1 s (FEV1) decline. Stem cell transplant for Myelofibrosis
Whilst my Hgb and platelets remain low (mid 90's and 30 ish respectively) I have not had a transfusion for 5 weeks and the
cyclosporin
and acyclovir are being tapered down. As of last week my follow up clinic is once every 2 weeks instead if weekly.

Post transplant GI problems for 6 months
Hi, I am seeking advice. First transplant 1998 - on cyclosporine and azathiaprine (and prednisalone for first few years) - no significant side effects except anaemia. Second transplant 2019 February - on Tacrolimus 8mg, Myfortic 360mg twice daily, and prednisalone 5mg. Also, still on antibiotic co-trimoxazole

Prednisone/lesions/General treatments
I’d like to hear my responses regarding prednisone. I’ve been on it since July of ‘17. It started before my diagnosis, treating serious lesions in my throat. Went from 20 to 30 mg last summer when I “over-walked” and my low back reacted as if had tried to pick up a very heavy object from the floor. Before

Ways to Reduce Cyclosporine Toxicity
One of the worst threats to the survival of kidney transplants is the toxicity to the kidneys of cyclosporine. Many scientific studies have shown that the amino acid arginine, which is widely available as a supplement, can prevent graft loss due to cyclosporine toxicity. However, a study in using arginine

Rapid progression cataract and Sjogren's
Hi. Looking for experiences of cataract with Sjogrens syndrome. I have a rapidly progressing cataract in my right eye, 3 prescription changes in my specs in 12 months. It's getting a bit costly! I'm 49 years old with lupus and Sjogrens. I'm not taking any oral steroids but I have used ocular steroids

Immune Suppressant Side Effects
Hello, I am 15 months post liver transplant and have managed to get down to 125mg of Ciclosporin a day. I have been plagued with fatigue, a little depression and anxiety, occasionally painful joints but mostly a brain fog type feeling and ringing in my ears. This week I have been put on 500mg of Mycophenolate

Sjogren's - Punctal plugs or Ciclosporin drops?
Does anyone have experience of both of these treatment options for very dry eyes and, if so, which would you recommend? Thanks.

I've been given the option of
cyclosporin
or azathioprine. Both don't sound great? Anyone in the same boat?

13 months post-transplant and quality of life
Hello. I had my liver transplant on the 15th August 2017 and have recovered pretty well so far. My operation had several problems including my kidneys failing, 2 seizures and internal bleeding. I seem to be suffering from a little brain fog, anxiety and a fair bit of low mood which I presume is the Ciclosporin
