hi I’m just after a bit of advice I had my right kidney removed 4 weeks ago it was removed robotically and took over 7 hours due to the size of a non cancerous tumour. I had 4 small incisions and one large one lower down which is quite big! My tummy is still very swollen and sore. Is this normal? I

Father has had PBC for 16 years - Odd complications since COVID?
Hello all, I wonder if anyone here who has PBC (or has a family member with PBC) has had similar experiences post covid? My father was diagnosed 16 years ago. Recently he contracted COVID and was hospitalised (he's also been a type 1 diabetic since birth, so 60 years). Within a day of getting COVID

Researchers Develop "Two-Headed" Drug to treat Parkinson's Disease
Although the following research is in its infancy, it has merit and looks promising. In particular that they want to try and make it a oral bio-active medicine. Researchers have created a ‘two-headed’ drug that prevents the production of the toxic protein linked to Parkinson’s disease before destroying

Hello, Decided to ring the liver trust nurses today . I spoke to a lovely lady who went through stuff with me but as she said didn’t know my medical details but encouraged or questioned should I be asking my consultant about my prognosis. Am I alone with now being scared to death that if I should ask

Flare or Adrenal Crisis
During the Christmas period I had a series of very stressful situations , including transatlantic travel. Upon returning I experienced extreme burning pain in my neck, arms, shoulders and groin. I could barely get out of bed. It was the same pain I experienced when I was first diagnosed with PMR 2 1

AbbVie announces EU availability of Parkinson's therapy
A cutting-edge skin patch, equipped with a miniature pump, administers a continuous 24-hour subcutaneous infusion of a therapy based on levodopa. My neurologist recommended this innovative approach as a more convenient alternative to managing our medication, eliminating the need for multiple pills throughout

Supplements to help liver
I had a blood test that showed raised ALT and then stopped drinking for 3 months and the repeat test had gone down to normal levels. I have heard that various things can help the liver, milk thistle, artichoke, dandelion etc. Is there any merit in any of these. I do not drink a lot but the occasional

My Fibroscan score has increased from 5.9 to 7.9 in a year my consultant doesn’t seem concerned as my blood results are normal and a recent ultrasound on my liver hasn’t changed apparently the size is the same. 🤷♀️I also have fatty liver. I was carrying a bit of extra weight but not overly big but

I was a junior high Science teacher... in 2015 my PKD became so profound that I had to quit teaching and have HD 3 times a week for 4 hours a session.
