A large injection of hope required. Please.
I was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer in early 2020 and was given the targeted therapy Afatinib. This was initially most effective but gradually stopped working and so the cancer spread further in the lungs. I then had five consecutive radiotherapy sessions which reduced the size of the main tumour

Still worried but currently still castrate sensitive
Should I relax being Gleason 9 received radiation therapy and ADT with last blood test result <0.1 or consider going on Docetaxel and/or Zytiga with my current first generation ADT?

Does anybody else suffer with constant UTIs despite being on antibiotics
I have been on antibiotics for several years now. I start on a weeks course of 200mg and then 3 months of 50mg as a prophylactic dose. I then have to come off the antibiotics and wait until I get another infection (usually 5 days) and then send in a sample and wait for the appropriate prescription

First RT session
No issues at all with first radiotherapy therapy treatment of 6 gy this morning. Long may it last!! I will now double down on exercise and consumption of supplements in the expectation that weakened cancer cells are less able to resist any benefits they may offer. The next 5 appointments are all confirmed

Sad upsetting post (new member)
My 72 year old dad was diagnosed on 17th August with 3 brain tumours. He had a MRI and CAT scan on 17th Aug due to forgetting a few things about a week before and not knowing who the prime minister was or the year. He was then kept in hospital and put on steroids. It was like he had had a stroke slightly

Hi . Ive just been diagnosed with hypothyroidism following a blood test and I pick up medication tomorrow. I just have the feeling that I should be referred to an endocrinologist though. My health history includes several late effects from radiotherapy to head and neck, previous hyperparathyroidism

An outcome I was told wasn't possible ..
I joined this Forum shortly after I was diagnosed with Advanced prostate cancer in early 2020. Having been told by my oncologist team that my Gleeson was 9 and the cancer had metastasized to my hip and I had no chance of cure and could expect to live for another 5 years, maybe a little longer. My PSA

Combined metformin-salicylate treatment provides improved anti-tumor activity and enhanced radiotherapy
It's only in vitro, but hopeful. "We observed that PrCa cells are resistant to clinically relevant doses of MET. Combined MET + SAL treatment provides synergistic anti-proliferative activity at clinically relevant doses and enhances the anti-proliferative effects of RT. This was associated with suppression

Constipation cycle
Hi all, Looking for advice. I have a constant cycle of constipation followed by diarrhoea flare ups which make me feel quite ill and housebound for a few days, then back to constipation. I guess this is because of narrowing of part of the bowel by radiotherapy although it is just classed as PRD. Dietary

Some questions answered, some answers questioned, and Chemotherapy scheduled.
I exchanged emails with the MO over the weekend regarding the combination trials of Docetaxel and Radium 223. Below is a portion of the exchange. Part 1 explains why there was no treatment for 90 days. Part 2 the Medical Oncologist paragraph talks about his familiarity with the Docetaxel/Radium 223

Hi I have been a member of Health Unlocked for over a year but only on the CKD site. I have only just discovered the PRDA site. It is very interesting to read people's posts and although my CKD has been my main problem more recently I have been suffering with bouts of diarrhea, constipation and cramps

Testing Pituitary Function - Any Advice Please?
I had an overactive thyroid gland treated with Radioactive Iodine in February 1990. I gained two and half stone during the three years which followed. My doctor flatly refused the idea that my thyroid had become underactive, while my T4 slowly plummeted to the bottom of the range, because my TSH did
