Hello, Could anyone please share about their experience with a colon resection surgery? Changes in urgency or incontinence or pain? What about eating? Can you eat seeds or nutshell, etc.? How long to heal? Thanks.

Hello. Can anyone tell me realistically their experience after colectomy- colon resection surgery? I have been offered a left hemicolectomy and want to know what the true recovery is. Surgeons are minimizing the recovery and say once healed you will probably not notice anything. I have a hard time

I have a colostomy and I had to have a colonoscopy this week I was given pethidine. I found the procedure very painful and was told it was because I take morphine for chronic pain. This worries me in case I need emergency treatment where I will need pain management.

Fine had before can live with that.however as this is my 3rd hospital admission surgeon told me to seriously think about a colostomy bag, gave me 12 weeks to think. surely discuss after colonoscopy? It's a major operation and a life changing one at that.

(Needing bowel surgery scares me as my mum has a colostomy bag). He also re mentioned coil but I worry about that not agreeing and not being able to get it out quickly! Anyway back to pill. For those that have tried noriday, how long did it take to settle?

hi I am due for surgery for rectal cancer in which I will need a permanent colostomy and possibly rectal excision. Understandably I am struggling to come to terms with diagnosis and surgery needed.

Colostomy bag for life isn’t a great prospect, but neither is infection in my abdomen and Fallopian tubes. Anyone experienced this? Anyone gone down the surgery route? Did anyone’s Fallopian tubes become free and magically return to normal after a period of time? Would love to hear from you!

Typically, such cancer patients would have needed to undergo often debilitating treatments such as chemotherapy, radiation, or surgery, and in extreme cases be fitted with colostomy bags.

I have been offered a Decapeptyl 3month injection and HRT, and been told the laparoscopy waiting list is at least 6months+; but there’s a lot of risks for a lap because my bowel is stuck to my womb (been told I could end up with an ileostomy or colostomy bag!)

His colon resection is scheduled Apr 22 with temporary colostomy. REsults of MRI and CT for lymphatic involvement pending. Should they also start monitoring his PSA regularly?

I could end up with a colostomy bag (highly likely at this point) and also a bag to drain my kidneys! So I have deeply infiltrative Endometriosis which has currently consumed an entire ovary! No ovary is seen independent of this cyst! This ovary is attached to my bowel!

If I had surgery to remove this, then I could end up with a colostomy bag and a full hysterectomy. I tried IVF 5 times but no eggs, i then tried IVF with donor eggs all top grade but no pregnancy at all.
