Asbestosis - Acute Lung Injury - SEPSIS
For a tad i wonderd why i have abdonminal pain. Could it be infections i.e sepsis or is it muscle pain or scar tissue ? But as i dont have chest infection given my condition must be later i.e muscle pain or scar tissue forming. But today am talking about ASBESTOSIS induced ACUTE LUNG INJURY

Have you had surgery for lung cancer in Scotland in the last few years?
At present the "Detect lung cancer early" campaign is running in Scotland. The team are keen to find people who have been treated recently to share their experiences to encourage people to get diagnosed sooner. If you would like to get involved please do get in touch. The "Be clear on lung cancer" campaign

Bernice's Story - about her double lung transplant - this may be upsetting for some people, but give hope to others
... and may help many of us realise we are not doing so bad with our lungs after all.... A patient who received a lung transplant told ITV News it was "the best Christmas present." This is Bernice's Story, Click on the video from this page: http://www.itv.com/news/update/2013-12-26/patient-says-lung-transplant-is-best-christmas-present

I have finally completed the major part of my journey - scans biopsies chemo and radio for what was to be terminal lung cancer. My Oncologist felt she would give treatment a try on aggressive chemo etc and the odds landed in my favour, I was told that it was 19-23% chance of success. I was determined

Endobronchial Valve Implants one month on. What today's hospital tests have shown...
The parts of the
lung
that the valves were supposed to collapse haven't
collapsed
and my Fev1 results are basically the same before and after. Good news is that the FVC results have gone up 23% to 85%.

Graduation present :(
I graduated last Friday (woohoo!) then woke up on Saturday with a cold! I don't normally let colds affect me too much in the normal course of events but by crikey it has really affected my running! On Monday I coughed and spluttered then gave it up as a bad job after 18 minutes. On Wednesday I decided

Fluid on lung. Lung collapse :'(
The doctor saw my dads
lung
has
collapsed
and that he has 3.5 litres of fluid. They did nothing and he has to go back tomorrow to find out what will happen. I am so scared that this means the cancer has spread that this is going to be really bad.

Still a non-smoker
Hi everyone, I have emerged from the dark December days(which I hate) I think my last name should've been Scrooge!! Anyway, still going strong and I can now say I stopped smoking early last year, something like 263 days. Anyway, for all the new ones stopping smoking it is hard - but well worth it. I

Would you like to share your story?
Since January 2011, the Department of Health has been running a ‘Be Clear on Cancer’ campaign to promote awareness and early diagnosis of cancer. The campaign has had a number of different focus points in the last few years, and next month, February 2014, it will be focusing specifically on lung cancer

47 Days in the Hospital with ILD. Still fighting. Doing Well. Hopefully Inspiring.
During July and August I was diagnosed with ILD and the form ( which there are many) was Cryptogenic Organizing Pneumonia (COP). Before I begin to share my story, please be reminded that we are all individuals and we respond to medications differently. So ignore statistics and personal experiences, simply

I'm aiming to be the fittest person on the lung transplant list in 2014
Today I've ordered a treadmill so I can continue walking through the winter months. It was in the sale at Ar*os so I thought now's the time, and dare I say it, my wife said she wants to lose a few 'OUNCES' too. Now where's that large Toblerone my mum bought me for Christmas, well it takes a few days

Winter Care For Wrinkles On Face
While winter is definitely the season to enjoy friends, family, holidays and good cheer, one of the unfortunate aspects of colder weather is dry winter skin. The combination of cold weather and indoor heat can lead to additional dryness, and in turn, the dryness can increase the chances of wrinkles and

Lung operation really scared
Hey all, basically I have been told I have cysts on both lungs which need to be removed in order to stop getting a pneumothorax had two collapsed lungs already in space of a year same side. They are going to remove the cysts then staple something inside apparently which will allow the lung wall to stick

Re consultant
Evening everyone Feeling really down just been to see my stand in consultant, was hoping for answers as to why I've felt so rubbish since June just didn't expect him to be quite so candid. I did know my emphysema was severe, he said it's very severe and wide spread which means lung reduction wouldn't
