Adding radiation after immunotherapy improves progression-free survival for some patients with metastatic lung cancer.
Adding precisely aimed, escalated doses of radiation after patients no longer respond to immunotherapy reinvigorates the immune system in some patients with metastatic non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC), increasing progression-free survival (PFS). Findings of the phase II randomized trial will be presented

Docetaxel...one down...advice wanted on “chilling out”
My dad’s PSA recently went up from around 4 to around 6, so the local oncologist told us to put a lung surgery on the back burner and to start chemo, which we did today. My dad is 86 and had successful chemo for non-Hodgkins lymphoma several years ago. With this chemo, I think he’s a bit baffled that

Cessation of Pembrolizumab immunotherapy after two years
Just wondering how others are faring who have completed the 2 year maximum treatment period on Pembrolizumab? I have the PD-L1 expression at only 5 percent but am fortunate that my disease has remained stable whilst on Pembrolizumab. I had an appointment with the Oncologist yesterday and I am due to

Silent Reflux after Lung Surgery for Early Cancer
I had a right lower lobectomy in February. My consultant is pleased with my recovery and I am now just being monitored. However after this surgery I had symptoms develop that lead me to now believe I have silent reflux or LPR. I've had an endoscopy that found only mild gastritis. I take Esomeprazole

Severe silicosis found among fabricators of engineered quartz stone.
Respirable crystalline silica exposure causes silicosis, a disabling and sometimes fatal lung disease. Clusters of cases have been reported internationally among stone countertop fabrication workers, but only one U.S. case in this industry has been reported previously. https://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes

Adenocarcinoma Recurrence
I have just learned that I definitely have a recurrence of my adenocarcinoma from my LLL lobectomy 2.5 years ago. PET scan and brain MRI next week. Then we will know whether it is stage 3 or 4. We will plot our course of action at that point. New territory for me. Best to you all, Rick

Dartmouth Study Reveals How Fungal Biofilm Structure Impacts Lung Disease.
Findings from an innovative new study led by researchers at Dartmouth’s Geisel School of Medicine and published this week in Nature Microbiology reveal that the way in which human fungal pathogens form colonies can significantly impact their ability to cause disease. Highly diverse and adaptable, these

Severe cough after chemo
My dad is on his second course of 2 chemotherapies and 1 immuno-therapy for sclc. His cough was at first an inconvenience and it has now turned into him not being able to sleep or talk. He sounds like a barking dog. Doctors have ruled out pneumonia, confirmed the tumor hasn’t grown and mentioned it was

Starting Immunotherapy Keytruda
Dear All, I am about to start Keytruda as my blood tests shows mismatched repair deficiency for which immunotherapy is advised. I have chronic asthma and so am really scared that the treatment may harm my lungs. I have read that keytruda can have bad side effects. Since in my case chemo has not worked

My husband had a liter and a half of fluid removed from area between lung and chest wall. The diagnosis now is stage 4 and he begins treatment on Wednesday. He will be on carboplatin, Alimta, and keytruda. How has keytruda worked for you? I wasn’t able to take it and just would like to hear from others

EGFR mutations on exon 20 and exon 21
Hello, I'm 42M, and I've just been diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. My PD-L1 is between 30 and 40%, and I have EGFR S768I (exon 20) and EGFR L858R (exon 21) mutations. Is it normal to have more than one EGFR mutation? I'm starting treatment on osimertinib, how effective is this treatment?
