Cholesterol unexpected increase

Ruxolitinib & raised cholesterol
I have been on Ruxolitinib for nearly 9 years now managing my primary myelofibrosis. I have been advised today that I now have a very high cholesterol level of 9.4. We went through my family history and diet but it seems that Rux seems to be the main contributory factor. The sheet does say this is

Statins
I get a three monthly blood test for iron overload but this week the doctor advised me to get a
cholesterol
blood
test
as well. All of my results for
cholesterol
were within the ranges but my doc advised that it’s recommended I go on statins as my Qrisk2 score was above 20%.

hi I’ve just been reading an article about the importance of amino acids for hypothyroidism. a lot of positive reviews about this supplement I’m very tempted to give it a try! Has anyone tried this?

Low statin dose increased lipoprotein a significantly
I have elevated lipoprotein a [lp(a)] and elevated cholesterol levels, am 70 years old and have a coronary artery calcium [CAC] score of 0 (or did before I started statins a short while ago). I just learned about the lp(a) level around 18 months ago. I started a 5 mg dose of simvastatin 15 months

BLOOD RESULTS - HELP PLEASE
GP didn't do a great job of translating. My learned friends can probably do much better: ESR 5.8 CRP 5.0 LDL 3.89 HDL 1.89 TC 6.3 (should the LDL and HDL not add up) Triglycerides 1.48 Glucose 5 My BP is controlled with meds. I do not want to go on a statin. She wants me on one. What do you all think

Huge increase in LDL
4 weeks ago stopped Rosuvastatin 10mg due to back muscles pain. The pains stopped. At that time my LDL was 1.4, HDL 1.4, Tg 1.1, ratio 1.8 and total cholesterol 3.3. Bloods were done exactly 4 weeks after stopping the statins and my LDL has shot up to 3.7! I had a shock. HDL is now 1.3, Tg1.3, ratio

Polyunsaturated fats v saturated fats
I am so confused! I read on another site polyunsaturated fats are bad for people with hypothyroidism and saturated fats are recommended. I tend to follow the Mediterranean way of eating more for heart health and keep slim. This includes oily fish , avocados and nuts which are PUFAs. My GP wanted me

statin side effects
Hi all. After advice from the pharmacist I have stopped taking Rosuvastatin 10mg for a week as to see if my upper back pain would ease. I have been having pain, getting increasingly worse, since November last year. And guess what - my back pain has improved dramatically over the past week with no pain

Help with understanding these results
I’ve been reading these posts with great interest, especially after receiving my thyroid test results from a private blood test in December. I’ve been feeling “less myself” for quite a while, and have recently been experiencing what I’d describe as frequent warm flushes, especially on waking, rather

Consider Statin Therapy? Is it necessary for a total cholesterol of 6 mmol/L?
I had my annual blood
test
, the total
cholesterol
is 6.0 mmol/L. My GP had put a comment in the results print out, " Consider Statin"?

She had bever heard

Feeling confused!
After hearing in a podcast about LP(a), I decided to get tested for it in view of a family history of aortic stenosis. The results of the test show that I do indeed have higher LP(a): 127nmol/L. The LDL Cholesterol is 3.5 nmol/L which is a red flag. However, all the other results are flagged green: ApoA1

Haven’t posted here in a while. I don’t know how to ask my GP about starting a statin as a preventive or even if it’s right.
. So tomorrow I have a GP appointment in person I’m from the UK so this is rare😂. So I’m 22, man, quite overweight, don’t smoke, don’t drink. Known disease hypothyroidism which I know does increase Lp(a) level’s especially how high mines been. But anyhow I sufffer with symptoms that seem heart related

I asked GP surgery for
cholesterol
blood
test
to see if it had gone down further and particularly if bad cholesterol had gone down. However on looking at NHS app for results, nothing about cholesterol levels.
