Hi all. Has anyone been on Ezetemibe for cholesterol? I've been on it for 3 weeks and I'm feeling dreadful. Very low mood on verge of tears all the time. My chest aches as do my shoulders and one foot. I can't take statins so they're trying me on this. My cholesterol was 6 total and it's come down to 4.7 but I am on a low fat diet now and have lost half a stone so far.
I'm not like this usually so wondered if anyone got the same affects from me when on ezetimibe.

Im one of those people who struggle taking statins …. Call your doctor and tell him this medication is causing you problems. Im currently taking Livalo take it every other day hasn’t caused me one single problem and dropped my LDL by 50 points and my Cholesterol by 50 points .
Hi - I’ve been on Ezetimbe for several years with no side effects. I too can’t tolerate statins due to muscle problems. However, as the medication wasn’t making much difference to my levels, I was taken off it & am now on Bempedoic acid medication. I do however have familial Hypercholesterolmia, which I think can make a difference.
If you’re experiencing side effects, then do make sure you voice your concerns to your specialist, as you’re having to live with these effects & shouldn’t be made to feel that you ‘just have to put up with it’. Good luck
Hello I was prescribed ezetimibe last year, it was horrendous!! Could not not tolerate it, stoped taking it after 4 weeks, I also cannot tolerate statins, they are horrible drugs! I'm taking my chances with high cholesterol and doing my best with diet and exercise, hope you find something that works for you.
Thanks Sleephollow. I last took one on Sunday night and already I'm feeling a lot better! So it must be the ezetemibe. My shoulders still ache but my foot is ok and the chest ache has lessened a lot! My mood is getting a lot better too. I'm doing the same, watching my diet, lost a bit of weight so far and trying to do some exercise. I've got RA too so that can be hard. But no more statins for me.
In my opinion that's a good plan, but I'm not a medic so discuss with your medical provider, my gp has finally admitted that I simply cannot tolerate these drugs, some bp drugs have had the same effect, only this week a new gp changed my bp meds, but I have lasted only four days, the side effects were horrendous!! Awful joint pain, headache, heart palpitations, and worst of all, very low mood, not worth it in my opinion, il go back to the less awful bp med and suffer the milder side effects, it's truly a minefield, hope you continue to improve .
Thank you Sleepy. I'm away next week but will still watch my diet. Then when I get back I'll go back to the GP. I'll be able to swim while I'm away too do that'll be good. I looked back on my medical records today and my cholesterol has been between 5 and 6 total for years. I used to have fibrates to help the good cholesterol but had to come off them as I have gallstones and cannot take them with stones. After w weeks on ezetimibe it went to 4.7 but no good if they make me ill.
