'Huge advance' in fighting world's biggest killer
Is hypocholesterolaemia the goal? Looks like it is (see last sentence of my quoted piece). I wonder what Malcolm Kendrick's view will be? Could it ever be sensible to prescribe any form of cholesterol-lowering agent without first having properly investigated the possibility of a thyroid disorder?

The reason for cholesterol increase in hypothyroidism
I heard one finnish functional doctor talk about this and googled a bit. http://www.cpmedical.net/newsletter/is-hypothyroidism-causing-your-patients-hyperlipidemia "A consequence of hypothyroidism is a slowing of the body's ability to process cholesterol. This processing lag is largely explained by

Results. Advice please
I had a medicheck thyroid test last week. My GP also wanted me to check my HBA1C so I said I'd add it to my private bloods as I hate blood tests via the vein. I had them done in November and I don't fancy another MOT yet lol! So he agreed to just do it private. I thought I would re test my cholesterol

Lab Results
Hi, I am currently on 4 grains NDT, THIROYD. I take two at night and 2 at noon. My hair is shedding so bad. I am tired all the time. No motivation to do things at all. I did not have health insurance, so had to start self medicating. Started by 1 grain per day and raised every 2 weeks. Luckily, I

Latest results. High cholesterol at 25 and possible PCOS? Help please :)
Hi I've had some results recently and was just hoping for some advice on a few things that are concerning me. After the first 2 test results my gp said once my b12, folate and vit d had been treated we could trial levo if still symptomatic. In all honesty I don't really feel much different. However

Latest results
Hi does anyone mind having a quick look over my latest results please? Particularly anyone with knowledge of PCOS which they've flagged up as a possibility due to a raised hormone. However they've assumed I have a 28 day cycle which I never have. It's normally around 34 days I think but it's been really

BELLY FAT - A risk for the development of diabetes and CVD.
An expanding waistline is sometimes considered the price of getting older. For women, this can be especially true after menopause, when body fat tends to shift to the abdomen. Yet belly fat is about much more than just how you fit into your clothes. Research shows that belly fat also carries serious

Take Control of Your Heart Health
I live in Canada and like most of the contributors to this forum who are in the U.K. we belong to a universal health care system. Our health care costs are paid through our burdensome tax system. As a result, people don't fully understand how much it costs to visit a doctor, have a blood test or to

Cholesterol Busting Super-Soup - Redux
Soluble Fiber is lacking in the typical Western diet. Soluble fiber is ESSENTIAL in lowering the atherogenic LDL-P cholesterol, naturally, without statin drugs. http://www.webmd.com/diet/features/insoluble-soluble-fiber Some people have made comments that foods high in soluble fiber are unpalatable

Help with understanding my results please.
Hi, I've posted before but now I've got my results in. They all say Normal next to them but I'm trying for a baby so I'd like your expert opinions. A quick recap, I've been hypothyroid for 12 years and been on Levothyroxine for all 12. I've recently reduced my dose from 100mg to alternating between

Coming Off Statins - Update 2017-02-21
I weaned off of a 30 mg dosage of Crestor between February and October of 2016. My last dose of Crestor was 5 mg in mid-October, 2016. I just had my blood test yesterday. I do a blood test every 6 weeks to monitor my lipid values and see the impact of adjusting vitamin supplementation and dietary changes

Interpreting results
Hi - I have been told my cholesterol is too high but I am unsure of the readings and what they mean - any advice/explanation would be gratefully received. It is of concern to me because I also have high blood pressure (kidney disease as a child and I was told that as an adult I would have high blood
