Catheter ablation for PAF
I had my
catheter
RF
ablation
yesterday. Was as nervous as hell after reading all the blurb they sent me months ago but decided on balance to go ahead as it is a progressive condition and the worse it gets, the less likely ablation will work. Anyway, arrived at 08.00 and was second in the queue.

rogue beats
I had a
catheter
ablation
on Wednesday. Up till now, I was not really getting many problems with my heart, but since early this morning, I’ve had quite a lot of episodes of missing heartbeats, some go on longer than others and it feels like my heart is going to stop.

6 months post ablation
My husband is 59 and had a
catheter
ablation
in March 2023 for paroxysmal AF. He's off all his meds and apart from sporadic AF in the first few weeks, it's gone really well. We just have a Q.

Mini maze update.
And my EP said I wasn't suitable for
catheter
ablation
and said my best option (and only option) was a mini maze with Mr Hunter so he referred me across to him. This was back in Jan 2023. I saw Mr Hunter in late March 2023....so didn't have to wait very long really.

Distended stomach & abdomen after ablation
I had my 2nd
catheter
ablation
4 days ago under Gen Aanaesthetic; the ablation, plus cardioversion, seems to have gone well (allowing for it being very early days) and the groin wound is healing well.

Cryoablation time! (Sorry folks, has since been cancelled!)
I got back from a fab day out with a friend yesterday and there’s a message inviting me for
catheter
ablation
this Friday! Just spent an hour cancelling an entire holiday - travel, car hire, hotels, holiday let, stay with friends ….and feeling so heftily disappointed- but it has to be done.

Ablation trade off?
I haven’t been on any AF meds but am scheduled for a
catheter
ablation
in two weeks. I’m still very active and don’t notice the AF much except for some general tiredness. Since ablation destroys some heart cells, I’m afraid it may do more harm than good to my ability to stay active.

Catheter ablation - information video
Wish I’d seen this before I had an ablation last week. It’s highly informative about the entire process, the equipment that’s used and potential outcomes. If I had watched this I may have felt a little less daunted by the amount of huge screens and equipment in the cath lab and the sheer number

afib ablation question
hey everyone, recently a family member had a
catheter
ablation
done. They fixed 4 areas and a flutter. back story: has had afib for 2 years and is 63. Had cardioversion done the beginning of this year and it worked for 5 days then back in afib. Had ablation done 2 weeks and 5 days ago.

Pred and AFib
I had a
catheter
ablation
in April 23 and had no further episodes until a fairly severe one in late December. I started developing PMR symptoms in early Jan and was diagnosed in early March. I am now on 12.5mg and plan to taper to 11.25mg in a week or so.

Alternative to Anticoagulation?
Just a case history for now, but apparently they have done a Left Atrial Appendage (LAA)Closure during an RF
catheter
ablation
procedure, guided by 3D printing technology!

Atrial Fibrillation medication
I broached the subject of a
catheter
ablation
which sounds very scary, but would perhaps be a cure? I was shot down in flames by the consultant as a result. Anyway, I don’t take water tablets or the extra Bisopralol and have decided to put up and shut up from now on.

Outcome of a staged hybrid convergent ablation
First stage, a surgical
ablation
already done on 15 May and the second stage, a
catheter
ablation
will be done in 3 weeks. After the first back to persistent AF and still there. I am still hopeful though that after the second ablation I will be back to NRS and maintain it for a long time.

Suitability for catheter ablation?
When asked, my GP told me that
catheter
ablation
is not really done for Atrial Fibrillation.

Low magnesium
Hello everyone, I am currently waiting for a 3rd
catheter
ablation
and my heart is banging away like an orchestra drum relentlessly. I have just been told that my magnesium is a bit low and was advised to get some. In the past it has not been great on my digestive system.

left atrial appendage occlusion interesting paper
This is an interesting research paper bringing together all the studies - study looks at LAA closure alone and not with a mini maze or
catheter
ablation
specifically - both appendages use to be occluded but they help flush fluid and caused difficulty so now only the left where 90% of strokes occur

whilst the country celebrates the coronation on Saturday I’ll be raising a glass to one year since my mini maze and one year afib free
After 5 plus years of persistent afib and having been told by the EP who did my
catheter
ablation
that I wasn’t capable of NSR, here I am. The recovery from mini maze for me was easier than from my previous
catheter
ablation
as the EP got too near my phrenic nerve.

ABBOTT RECEIVES FDA APPROVAL FOR TACTIFLEX™ ABLATION CATHETER FOR TREATMENT OF ABNORMAL HEART RHYTHM
Don't trust anything FDA approves anymore but thought I would share this new technology that has come out anyway: https://abbott.mediaroom.com/2023-05-19-Abbott-Receives-FDA-Approval-for-TactiFlex-TM-
