Ablation update
Well, I had a
catheter
Ablation
in February and had a 7 day ECG last week to check how it went. I can say that gladly it was successful, done by Prof Richard Schilling and thanks very much for his skills and knowledge. Hoping to continue recovering in the months to come.

ESR elevated, normal CRP
Hi there, I haven't posted for a while as I successfully came off the prednisolone in January this year (well, I thought successfully).Since then (on March 26th 2024) I had a cardiac
catheter
ablation
for paroxysmal AF, so far so good although recovery has been a bit of a bumpy ride.

Post ablation - enter site swelling
I had a
catheter
ablation
on Thursday and I noticed this morning that the area around the entrance site in my groin is quite swollen. I don't have pain, blood or bruising.

I was diagnosed with AF 7 years ago while at our holiday home in Spain and had the
catheter
ablation
5 years ago in Switzerland our main home. I wrote last week that I had a cold and thought I was back in AF after being free for 5 years and in Spain again.

Having an ablation when AF is well controlled or when things deteriorate?
I have just read a cardiology review 'Ablation as First-line Therapy for Atrial Fibrillation' by Jason G Andrade where he states: [i]
In contrast to antiarrhythmic drugs,
ablation
appears to be disease-modifying, significantly reducing the progression of disease.

Support please 🙏
I had a
catheter
ablation
on 16th May first one and have now developed atrial flutter. Which I understand can be common. I have had 2 cardioversions in the last 10 days which both lasted 24 and 48 hours. I'm back in persistent atrial flutter again and just don't know where to put myself.

Anticoagulants stopped by new consultant
After various unsuccessful attempts to correct heart I had a
catheter
ablation
June 2019 . Responded well and put on Bisoprolol and anticoagulants which I was told would be for life. I have been reasonably well apart from the odd blip which I have managed to cope with at home.

Groin pain from catheter ablation
Harefield hospital carried out an ablation for AF and flutter Jan 2023. There was a black area of my groin/thigh that was black. Since the operation I get a dull inner pain in my thigh going down my leg a few inches. This problem / annoyance does not effect my activities and I am only aware of it when

Proposed ablation next week. 48 Yr old. PAF
Hi all, I have been on waiting list for a
catheter
ablation
for over a year. They called me today and offered an ablation next week at a private hospital instead. Has taken me a bit by surprise to be honest. My AF is paroxysmal and generally very tolerable.

Minimally Invasive AFib surgery in Tokyo with Dr Ohtsuka
I really did *not* want a
catheter
ablation
. Saul G from this forum was my introduction to the work of Dr Ohtsuka, so I am deeply grateful to this forum, and to Saul for guiding informing, and supporting me throughout. I feel great and I am SO glad I did it.

Palpitations worse after ablation
Good evening everyone, I’m really struggling after my
catheter
ablation
10 days ago. The palpitations and ectopics I’m experiencing are awful. So different to the palpitations I was having before my ablation. They are very erratic. I have Dilated Cardiomyopathy and AVNRT.

Greetings from an AF sufferer.
Roll on many years of numerous undiagnosed instances of AF I finally got the diagnosis from a consultant in 2022, this led to me having a
catheter
ablation
procedure in March this year and be placed onto anticoagulants (Edoxaban).

post ablation
I had a
catheter
ablation
at Bart’s in London ten days ago. I am told it was successful and to expect the odd ectopic beat for up to 8 weeks. Last night I went into atrial fibrillation and I was somewhat shocked and upset as I didn’t think I would get a full episode.

cancelled ablation
I was having a
catheter
ablation
next Wednesday, but they rang me this morning, saying it’s cancelled because of the Doctors strike. I am so cross. I have been waiting for this for well over a year and was gearing myself up for it and now I have no idea when it will take place.

cardiac ablation good experience
hi everyone, I have just had my cardiac
catheter
ablation
for my ventricular ectopic beats ( I have a very high ectopic load) It has gone well and I was really well looked after by the team . In case anyone is waiting for their ablation thought it might be helpful to share my experience.

Catheter ablation recovery
Had a
catheter
ablation
on Wednesday at Leicester Glenfield. Had episodes of SVT for years, including 2 that didn’t stop without medical intervention. Hence the referral for ablation.
